Cat

We've seem to have adopted a local stray cat here at the office, John and I. He's a talky Siamese who is currently sitting on my paperwork. Ah well, I guess I'll have to peruse the internet instead.

Yesterday we did more stuff! We went over to the Japanese House for their bonsai exhibition and got a tour of the house and wandered the garden. The exhibit itself was a little disappointing because there were no markers saying what the trees were and no one seemed to be on hand to talk about them. Ross has decided that I would be good at bonsai-craft, so he ordered me a book on the subject and found me a day-long class I could take some Saturday. I figure it wouldn't hurt to kill a frew little trees, so why not? It would be nice to have some greenery in the apartment, especially come winter.

Ross has also found me a possible weaving class, but we haven't figured out what exactly 'floor loom' means. If it's one of those big looms with the shuttles and everything, I'm all for it. I'd like to learn how to use one of those looms. However, I think it's probably something more along the lines of a Native American setup where they have only a single frame that the yarn attaches to. They had something like it at the Mt. Airy Village Fair last weekend and it looked like a pain, having to navigate the strings by hand. I guess I'll just have to call them and find out, eh? Bah.

All this, and I've just discovered there's an Engineers Without Borders chapter starting up in the Philly area and the next session of taiko classes starts soon. I think I'm going to be busy.

EDIT: Or, I'll just sign up for the weaving class and see what I get. It's only $87 for the day (five hours) and I can register online. No talking to strangers on the phone!
