SPOCK SPOCK SPOCK WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

I think imadra_blue said it pretty well in her reaction post when she said that she loved that moment when Spock tells the Council to "live long and prosper" with his mouth, but tells them to "fuck off and die" with his eyes. I mean. Yeah.

The whole time he was punching the bully in that one scene, I was punching my theater-buddy in the arm from sheer, unadulerated excitement.

The destruction of Vulcan means that Spock is deprived the chance to make out with Uhura in front of those bullys.

You can clearly see---in the film---how upset he is by this.

LOOK AT THAT FACE. LOOK AT THAT ANGRY, ANGRY LITTLE VULCAN FACE.

There are some bits with Bones that I think you'd like v. much. And some moemnts when he sounds uncannily like DeForest.

Please like this movie, babel

Don't. The new Uhura is also a bit scrawny, but there is a great deal to love. And the Bones in it is fairly adorable. I think he's the one who plays it fairly close to the acting style of the TOS original.

Also, Chekov and Scotty and Sulu are adorable.

until Spock is too sleepy to protest that he has researched this issue, that the tops of Terran trees are not strong enough to support traditional cradles and that stars don't twinkle in the Vulcan sky because there isn't enough moisture in the atmosphere.

AAAAAHHH you must write him. I will fangirl any story remotely involving Spock that you write, and fangirl it hard.

I wish I could dredge up my fandom brain to leave a proper doomthread-style comment, because I totally think that Spock based the Kobayashi Maru on what happened to the Kelvin, i.e. what happened to Kirk's father.

Yeah, in my head, he starts writing the scenario when he finds out that Kirk has come to the Academy (didn't they say during the court scene that he's been running it for three years, i.e. since Kirk arrived?) and, you know, that first time, he stands in the control booth and watches Kirk's knuckles go white because he's gripping the arms of the chair so hard, and, yeah, it's fascinating, utterly fascinating.

....Holy shit. Holy SHIT. And, you know. Spock served with Pike for quite a while before the film, huh? The man's thesis informed a lot of what made it into the simulator. And Kirk finding that out, the addendum to the thing, that Spock found Kirk senior's surety in the face of certain death absolutely fascinating, yes, but it was Pine that wrote up the psychological analysis as to just why.

I found the Uhura/Spock thing a bit meh- I mean how unprofessional to leave her post to go snog him? I mean argh! LOL. Other than that makes way more sense than Kirk and her. I thought Spock and McCoy kicked serious ass.

I did think it was insane giving the best ship in the fleet to a bunch of fresh faced cadets with a loose cannon as Captain was totally nuts- but yeah good film.

Ach need iconage!

Yeah, she did become a bit of snog furniture later in the movie, but I'm going to choose to focus on how spunky and tough and determined to do things properly she is in the other parts of the movie. And um, something.

If you're looking for icons, these are fairly lovely, at least to my eye.

I had the same thought! But hey, it was necessary for the plot. XD
