No, really! I am famous!
I don't know if anyone has ever heard of comic book artist Jeffrey Brown. I certainly hadn't, until he came to the mountains in Washington where I spent the summer of 2002 to visit his friend Daniel, and the three of us went on a few backpacking trips together. Jeffrey had just published his first comic book-novel, Clumsy, which Ira Glass subsequently discovered and featured on This American Life. Jeff became well-known in the comic world, apparently - you can buy his books in comic stores, and even regular bookstores, all over the country.
Anyway, Jeff has just published a new book of short stories from his life. One of them is about his trip to Washington. Thus, I figure numerous times in the 80-ish pages of this comic-book hiking tale, along with my dear friend Daniel. I have some brilliant lines offering up park ranger natural history wisdom.
I went to a little comic store in Baltimore yesterday to get myself a copy, and the lady who runs the place took my picture! And posted it on their blog! Now I am doubly famous. You can see it
here, along with a link to information about the book. Fun!
