Well, it occurred to me that probably no one has any idea what I am doing or what I have been doing or what I will be doing. I am only vaguely aware of these things, myself. So I thought I'd write them all down:
November 2006-March 2007: I was a volunteer at Earthaven Ecovillage, in Black Mountain, North Carolina (near Asheville)
April 2007: I went to Texas with my parents to see my grandmother, Maine to visit Rafe, Boston to see Patrick & Emily & Gavin, and Ithaca to see everyone
May-July 2007: I was the kitchen-garden intern at Yestermorrow Design/Build School in Vermont. It's a cool place, but my job was less than ideal, so I quit.
August 2007: I went to Clifftop in West Virginia, saw Savanna, reunited with Drew, drove up to Ithaca. Drew and I cooked for the Finger Lakes Permaculture Institute's summer design course for 2 weeks. Then I went to Santa Fe with my family for my grandmother's 90th birthday.
August-November 2007: I worked harvesting vegetables at
Early Morning Organic Farm, near Ithaca.
November-December 2007: I house-sat for a friend in Ithaca and applied to many many jobs.

I just spent the past week in Asheville, Winston-Salem, and Blacksburg, and I have been reminded how much I love Appalachia.
Tomorrow I'm going to Seattle, for a week, to see Daniel and Karlyn. Then I'll fly to Berkeley to see Bria, Allan, Charlotte, and the little baby Anders! (I wanted to take the train from Seattle to San Francisco, but it has apparently been obliterated by massive mudslides in Oregon.) Then I'll fly to western Mass, get picked up by Rafe and we'll head to the
Dance Flurry in Saratoga Springs.
The point of all this traveling is to get in as many adventures as possible before . . . (drumroll) . . . Feb. 19th, when I begin my new internship in DC. It's with the
National Association of Conservation Districts. Supposedly I will be working on conservation and agriculture policy. . . . and wearing Nice Clothes to work every day. No more pigtail braids?! I'm not sure what I'm getting myself into. Luckily, it's only for 3 months or so.
Then . . . who knows? I am really looking to settle down in a place for a while. Like, for a year, at least. Asheville would be ideal, but it's damned hard to find a decent job there. I'm also considering West Virginia and Tennessee. Somewhere involving mountains and music. I'll keep you posted . . .
