Naming the carrot. For me? Money.
Since I don’t seem to care enough about myself to loose the weight for pure health reasons, I’m bribing myself. I get $20 a weeks as pocket money in my budget, I’m taking that money and putting it away, once I get to 150 pounds, I can have the money. At 2 pounds a week, I should have about $1000 this time next year. Maybe we’ll go to Vegas or on a cruise.
Counting Calories. Using an electric diet journal I’ve established my weight goal, how many calories I burn a day (baseline) and how many calories I need to limit myself each day. Everyday I input my food intake and keep within my calorie restriction. Its simple math, if you burn more calories than you eat, you will lose weight. I allow myself one day off a week, I still input the food I’ve eaten, but I don’t worry about going over in calories. I need to be able to let loose sometimes; eating an entire pizza while vegging on the couch is good for the soul. I use the
FitDay as my electric diet journal.
Nutrition. Any electric diet journal worth its weight should let you know if you’re getting all your RDA of vitamins and nutrients. This is important to me, there no point loosing weight to be another unhealthy version of myself. I make sure that every day or at lease my weekly average meeting RDA standards. I run low on fiber, vitamin A and calcium; I keep low calorie foods on hand that help me boost those up. Keeping track of my nutrition also ensures that I’m not filling my calorie quota with junk food. I love junk food, but I keep that to minimum unless it my day off. Whole foods and organic foods are my staples on diet days.
Exercise. I don’t remember ever hating recess at school. That’s how exercise should be. I’m not the type of person who can stick to one exercise routine, I just get bored. As long as I’m doing something; I’m currently doing yoga with Angelus.
Motivation & Inspiration. I know I’ll need more than my carrot to motivate and inspire me as I continue this journey. That’s primarily where my Live Journal comes in. The Carrot, Counting Calories and Nutrition won’t change, but I’ll use this journal to keep track of fun ways to exercise and ways to stay inspired and motivated.
