Good riddance, 2010! We had some great fan times which I'll acknowledge below, but other than that, you were a waste of time. Here's looking at you, 2011.
So I won't bore you with personal details or anything since they are personal. That is what my journal, under lock and key, is for and utilized frequently. However, when it comes to my geeky obsessions, I shall endeavor to blather on incessantly. So here are my best moments from 2010 which include events, shows, movies, and whatever else I can think of while I write. This will probably be only a snippet of what went on since I'll probably forget a couple really excellent moments.
Vale, Decem. Today actually marks the 1 year mark for me of when I watched the whole of "The End of Time," David Tennant's last foray as the Doctor. I saw it twice that day since the first time was at 4 in the morning and then around 11 that night (or whenever we arrived home from a bloody 8 hour trip from Las Vegas). It's not easy for me to cry but I admit I had tears silently running down my face as I watched my favorite Doctor struggle against radiation poisoning to see all the companions that he held dear in his life. As a Rose/Ten shipper, my night was made when he saw her last. That last look and smile between them was heart-breaking. Also, music effects me more than visual stuff, so the Ood singing at the end and the whole crescendo of Ten's Regeneration was a bit like torture. It was Ten's perfect send off though.
"I love you... I don't want to, but I can't help it." My jaw dropped down to the first story of my house from my room when I heard those words. I was already flipping out as I watched Cuddy stroll into the screen frame as a miserable, bloody, and hopeless House sat on his bathroom floor, in pain and about to swallow two vicodin, thus ruining all the rehab and trails of the past year. I was even more astonished she had broken up her engagement to Lucas, asked House if they could work, and then uttered those now legendary words. It's serious one of the most heart-wrenchingly, romantically good scenes in the show. Their first hesitant kiss (of this scene, of course I know they've kissed before) had me almost hyperventilating with giddiness. "Help Me" was hands down the best episode of that season, and that was even hard to type because I love "Broken" so much for its originality [and hot sex-chair scene, but TMI?]. Anyway, House and Cuddy becoming canon was a definite pleasant shocker for me.
Here Lies Dobby, A Free Elf. Seeing "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1" before most of the world was marvelous! It stole my heart and placed itself in the number one spot of all Harry Potter films to date. I've seen it five times in the theater! Waiting for Part 2 has been a bitch and already vexingly horrible, but it is only seven more months... oh God, that even looks worse in the written [typed] word. I am going to be an emotional wreck after the second film, but it will be so worth it. All will be well.
Hugh Laurie, Hugh Laurie, and Hugh Laurie. And the celebrity who I stalked saw the most this year goes to... Oh bugger it, you know how to bloody well read already. Let's see, I got to see him act, speak his praise of the lovely Emma Thompson, sit in during his interview with Jay Leno, watch him drive off in his fucking sexy Porsche, dance across the stage [to steal an expression from a friend, my ovaries fell out], sing and play the piano. I can't enough of that voice and those blue bedroom eyes.
Every Minute with Friends. Okay, I'm going to get sappy. Without the lot of you, I'd have probably been the most depressed person on the face of this planet. Our trips to Las Vegas, San Diego and even just local have been so much fun and such a blessing for me since you guys know I've had it really rough. I raise my glass to you, loves, and hope I can take you all out on a night of the town in the near future!
Well, I'm tired and just wanted to write a bit so that's it for now. 2011 has gotten off to a great start [New Year's with the greatest friends and a kiss at midnight with a stubbled-face brunette] and I hope it continues!
