NYC was nice when I tuned out the crazy ex-roomies.
It reminds me why I will *never* live with 7 females again.
Had geeker moments on 34th&8th and at the Hammerstein ballroom for O.A.R. fanishness; Bleecker and other streets in the SoHo area for Newsies geekerness (which I thought had all but evaportated--I haven't seen the movie in years and I've stopped quoting it...until last weekend.)
I actually recited whole parts of the dialogue to people who had *NO. FREAKING. CLUE. what the hell I was talking about. It made me have fits of giggles.
....dear *me* what is that unpleasant aroma?! I fear the sewers may have backed up during the night....Oh, wait, nevermind, it's just the DELANCEY BROTHERS!!! (hahaha!)
The concert Sunday night was not what I expected. I actually enjoyed the opening act more!!! (and I only was there for their last 4 songs) (I should be shot) 300 eleven year olds really ruined it for me. They only knew the new songs and were totally not even into it. Next time I know to just suck it up and get a GA ticket.
However, I know I can have a euphoric experience at this bands concert and just chalk it up to being rushed all day and the row of 11 year olds (I'm not kidding about the 11 yr old part. The boys there? Their voices haven't even changed yet. Just as high as the girls!!!) in front of me, and they were going back and forth wondering where their friend A.J. was. Just STFU and watch the damn concert!!! I wanted to smack them all. It was past their bedtimes.
O.A.R. played 25% of my dream setlist with good improv (eventhough I couldn't hear a lot of it with the pre-teen nightmares in front of me)and they actually retired their most popular song!!!
It's a good choice, though. After playing it for 10 years, it needs to be put to rest. Bring it back in another 10 years like U2 with "40". They can't play the same 15 songs for the rest of their career. They need to progress and move on, as popular and fun the old stuff is. It's just that much *more* special when it's brought back.
I have 2 weeks vacation coming up and I'm up for a game of "anywhere but here"

B-gone up to boston to actually see the place instead of just driving though
C-gone to nyc to have a non-crazy-ex-roomie-long weekend in the city
