I've thoroughly enjoyed every second of this weekend thus far--from the car ride to sitting on my bedroom floor writing this.
Although traffic was horrid on the way to Aiken, I enjoyed Cecil's company. I haven't seen much of him since my junior year for various reasons. I can remember going to his house every weekend with Aaron, David, Rachael, and various others who cared to join our ventures. This is where Andrew earned the name "Reefer Boy" and where I learned that girls aren't my favorite company and where we all became addicted to mini tootsie roll pops and where Aaron stole Oatmeal Cream Pies on a regular basis and where David took great joy in throwing peanuts down shirts. Anyway, although stop-and-go traffic can be frustrating, it was fun blaring music out the windows and laughing at other drivers and singing along to Disney songs and listening to short comdery sequences. I really do miss the little things.
When I arrived, Shelby sniffed me and realized that it was her girl home to love her. However, the sidedoor was left open, and she decided to take a walk to the neighbor's house while Cecil and I talked to my parents. After Cecil left, I had to venture out with Dad to find the dummy. She was next door trying to get her boyfriend's attention :)
After dinner, I picked Lam up and we went to Solomon's porch. Although it was full of new faces, there were three familiar ones in particular that I was extremely happy to see: Matt, Robert, and William! I miss nerding it out at the coffee house. Tonight there will be comdey routines, and I heard that Joel and Timbo are two of the performers. I'm very excited to go because I know I'll see even more of my friends, many of whom I haven't seen since June when I stopped going. I also fell in love with a stray puppy. I would have gladly taken her home, but Shelby would hate me. And my mother would kill me since I can't keep a dog in Charleston. I suppose I could convince someone in a house to keep her, and then I'd visit daily :)
I downloaded tons of illegal music (and a virus, but it's gone!) this morning, and I did all my laundry for free. I also realized that I stare inside the pantry every time I walk by it, not because I'm hungry, but because I never see snacks anymore lol. I also like having my full mirror to look at the ridiculous fashion choices I make and also to realize that "Yes, my Chuck's do go well with every outfit." I've been sitting alone in my room listening to music and singing to myself. Sure, I sing to myself at school, but I don't have a room to myself full of only my personal belongings where I feel comfortable enough to sit in my underwear and sketch, sing, and just enjoy the quiet time. I don't seem to get that alone time when I need it at school. It seems to show up when I don't want to be alone.
Soon, I'm going to Lam's house to eat fruit snacks and watch a movie. Then we're going to Solomon's again.
I had forgotten what there is to love about Aiken. My past visits since starting college have been dull: guitar hero, laptop, tv... few friends and little fun (with the exceptions of seeing Erin and Jeannie and babysitting a few days over srping break).
In a way, I don't want to go back. But I will. There are a few people I'd miss :]
