Recap time!

The Daylights was the opener. It was the birthday of one of the members, so Josh came out and sang "Happy Birthday." Seeing him on the side of the stage holding that cake was pretty surreal.

This was the set list, to my best approximation:

Two Cups of Coffee, Special Company, Amazing, Almost Honest, Unfair, Masterpiece, Just Say the Word, Only You

It seemed incredibly short at the time, but looking back I see what a substantial set it was.

The standout moment of the night was definitely meeting Josh afterwards. It was the human connection that was paramount to me. I've obviously been lacking that lately, so to see that familiar face, shake his hand, and speak to him was stupendous. That little encounter alone was worth the ticket price (ridiculously cheap, by the way).

There was confusion about whether cameras were allowed in the venue, so Alex and Katie didn't bring theirs. I just thought, What the heck, these are disposables. It's worth the risk. Turned out that cameras were fine. The girls were very happy I brought cameras, as was I. Can you imagine, being able to meet Josh but not having pictures?? Tragic.

I had him sign my ticket. He asked me whether it was 'ael' or 'el.' *sigh* That might not sound very exciting, but it was, trust me! He was spelling my name!!

You hope that when these sorts of things happen, you get the opportunity to tell whoever it is about the impact they've made. But I think it's impossible. You just have to hope that buying their merchandise and showing up at their shows is enough. What can you say in such a limited amount of time that would adequately express the admiration you have for this person's talent?

On another note, I think Katie will be telling her great-grandkids the story of how Josh Kelley called her scrumptious and sang "Hey Katie" to her. Hee.
