Luna can see the air tense around them in the kitchen. She lifts her tea to her lips and studies them, watching the way Neville doesn’t meet Pansy’s eyes. They way they avoid touching each other. Hermione looks at both of them strangely.
Luna puts her cup back down on the table. “We’re going to see Ronald today,” she says and everyone physically tenses. Hermione looks at her with a downcast expression and Neville sits more rigidly. Pansy meets her gaze and shakes her head. No.
Luna nods. Yes. “We are. He deserves to know.”
“Don’t you think it would be better to piece things back together around here first?” Pansy asks. Neville’s gaze falls on her.
Luna pauses, and looks at Pansy expectantly. “What’s to piece back together?” she asks. Luna cannot see anything, nothing is broken; nothing, except each of them sitting here in this cottage. But the piecing back together cannot be done here. No, it can’t be done here, not in this place where they broke.
Pansy turns away, glancing at Neville before looking out the window. She doesn't reply.
