Strawberry salad

I got my first CSA box this week, and it contained mostly salad-y things. Wednesday night, I made a salad composed of arugula, mizuna, baby spinach, and garlic flowers, topped with chickpeas, strawberries and chèvre. Nik is allergic to vinegar. This means that when I serve salads, I have to get creative with dressings. I usually use some combination of citrus, olive oil, and wine. What I did for this salad was to muddle some strawberries and garlic flowers, then added white wine (Pouilly-Fumé, a sauvignon blanc from the Loire Valley), a few drops of olive oil, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Since we had a child visiting last night, too, I made a second dressing with balsamic vinegar replacing the wine. Both dressings went over extremely well. I am pleased.
