once upon a time there were two brothers who would do anything for each other.
this is not that show anymore.
in other news, dean has finally realized what we all have known since the pilot. that sam is john. and right now he's all the parts of john that dean sekritly hated and wanted to get away from. so yeah, great relationship! *smiles dean's fake smile*
so really, my only tiny bit of hope left for the boys ever regaining some part of their old relationship, is the belief that JENSEN seemingly has. not jared, because he is WHACKED when it comes to sam. but jensen, he believes. *slim hope*
so adam. i was ALMOST to the point where, hey this might not be so horribly bad! theyre kind of making it work! i like seeing the boys positions on family reversed!
and then he turned up in a coffin.
touche kripke, touche.
seriously though, i don't know what i was thinking, believing it. the episode is NAMED jump the shark, kripke was never gonna let adam actually exist with them. kripke needs to go to a writers anonymous meeting especially made for those writers who cant help but KILL the characters they write.
best parts of the episode IMO?
- extra pretty boys.
- dean's reaction to the whole brother situation. he was SO SO upset over it. just TORN UP inside. oh jensen, you act so pretty.
- sam interacting with not!adam.
- dean escaping from the crypt. (HOTASS)
- dean saving their asses. (HE IS NOT WEAK SAM)
- the end scene, and dean's final line.
- the promo for next week! Jimmy! Misha! he's my new happy place!
and in conclusion, i think kripke is a little to amused with himself. this episode didnt really further along the mytharch, so no points there, though it sure did make dean angst pretty.
hmm. so the guy who wrote this one also wrote Yellow Fever and After School Special. that makes lots of sense. i tend to have mixed/delayed reactions with this guys stuff.
also i'm gonna take a minute to predict which episodes are gonna be heavy on the gag reel (based on what Jensen said re: Phil Sgriccia directing and letting the camera roll).
the episodes Phil has directed thus far this season:
- Jump the Shark
- Criss Angel Is a Douche Bag
- Family Remains
- Yellow Fever
- Are You There, God? It's Me... Dean Winchester
huh. not the biggest fan of these either. i enjoyed them, but they didnt make me want to wallow, you know? though i must say i liked AYTGITDW a fair bit, its what made me accept Cas.
ANYWAY.
angsty boys are angstier! and non communicative! and argue over the fact that their roles have switched without realizing it!
as always, the day is gloomy and sad in spnland.
