Chances are you're doing something right now which stems from an ILLEGAL ACT. Yes, you heard me correctly. The RIAA has decided that copying music from a CD which you legally obtained and putting it on your computer is -illegal-. You are making an "unauthorized copy of copyrighted materials".
Can we say desperate? With the music industry in a revenue freefall the RIAA has stooped to try and put forth this load of crap in a recent set of litigations. It seems as though they will try anything to keep market share and profits (seems to be a theme lately in our world). Instead of moving to innovate and change their industry they are holding tight to the Metallica school of thought when it comes to their consumers.
As someone who has stopped buying CDs completely and gets his new music from sites like Amazon's MP3 downloads (DRM-bullshit free), I can see why the RIAA is worried. Because we are no longer dependent on the media format that they've chosen and falling revenues companies are having to make job cuts and are doing everything they can to grasp hard at the sand that is their profits. But I have a little bit of advice for the recording industry...
Stop alienating your customer base. By doing what you are doing you are only exacerbating the problem. Learn to innovate and move on.
