I think I go to Starbucks too much. It's a bad sign when the people who work there actually know you.
Mmk. Anyway.
I just have to get this out of my system before I go to bed:
The Shayid.
Um.
No.
I don't accept it.
You know that I'm way too invested in Lost when I get this pissed off about ships. It's not even like it vaguely annoyed me. The

I think that you may have articulated the anger at Shayid that I couldn't express before. And her I was thinking that it was just me being jealous of Shannon for getting Sayid. I loved the intense stares from Boone at Sayid and Shannon. I wish that there'd be little moments of Boone and Shannon with a dirty, yet brief sexual tension and then them lashing out at each other afterward. I just want the fact that their bickering is based in more than just sibling rivalry to be addressed in the island world.
I agree, I think that Sayid and Shannon's relationship has progressed too quickly, and I think the reason they made so little progress translating maps is because they were up to something else... But the thing is--I feel like they wouldn't be attracted to each other. I dunno.
Well, I think that both Boone and Shannon's issue is that they need to learn to provide for themselves. Shannon usually wants support from men, and Boone seeks validation that he's productive and reliable. So they had a symbiosis that was detrimental to them both. But Locke inspired them both to break out of the box and set themselves strait.
Part of what angers me about Shayid is that Shannon is dependent and kinda priss; she's so different from the intelligent, mature, and strong Nadia. I'm not so sure that Nadia will be forgotten, though. We'll have to wait for Sides to see if she might resurface.
Anyway, even though I've hated it in the past, Shayid was kind of romantic in In Translation, so I've come to tentatively accept it. We'll see.
Sorry for the long post from a mysterious person, but it had to be said. Thanks for letting me vent! ;)

The thing is, the Lost writers have got the formula down in terms of their character's relationships. You take two people, have them swap a few life stories, maybe one of them cries about something, and then there you go. They've officially bonded and possibly formed an attraction to one another.
But then you could potentially hook up any two people on the island and have it work. Even two people who are ridiculously polar opposites, have nothing in common, and are virtually incompatible, like Sayid and Shannon. Does that mean I'm overly interested in watching those two together? Not particularly. I mean, I don't violently hate them, but...yeah. I just don't want them as a couple.
Also, it's like you said: why would those two ever be attracted to each other?
Anyway. That's the end of my rant.
Mind if I friend you? ;)
