That’s why they sat at opposite ends of the table; looking at anything but each other. And that pissed her off even more. Her Doctor was never nervous. God no. He was always the one barrelling into situations unknown, head held high with that stupid grin plastered to his face. Her Doctor wouldn’t have been sat here like he was. He would have talked to her. He would have talked about nothing, talked about everything. Talked so fast that her head hurt. While he, he was just making her suffer through the silence. He didn’t even have the dignity to give her a good headache.
No he just sat there staring at his hands in that blue suit. He looked ridiculous in that suit. What did he think he was, a Time Lord. Ha.
The sink tap was dripping again. It needed the pipes tightening. Again. Though someone had put the plates away from earlier. Her eyes wandered over to the kettle. It was half full. Even after use the kettle always ended up as half full. Bloody thing. She wanted to chuck it at his head and blame him for the always half full kettle.
She had to go back and look at him now. Half chiding herself against the want to throw the kettle at him; half imagining that it could only improve the situation. Least they would have something to talk about.
But as she looked at him, he of all things had the audacity to stare straight back at her. Or just passed her as if she wasn’t even there; damn him and his confusing expressions. Now she defiantly wanted to chuck the kettle at him again. But she wouldn’t. So she did the only thing she could think of. And stared directly at a spot on the wall right behind him.
