I agree, Mr. Nigel, Marley is quite remarkable. It's amazing the things a good diet will do for spiders.

[ Nigel blinks silently, his expression flat and impassive, only for the moment to pass and for him to smile very slightly. Like he's had an amusing secret shared with him. ] Hello, Marley. Hello, Charlotte.

[ He leans back in the chair he's sitting in to glance up at the ceiling, considering her question. Fingers lace themselves across his stomach. An idle posture. ] Passingly good, yes. I've yet to acquire gainful employment so I'm left to fill my time however I'd like. I'm so used to the rigidity of school structures that I find myself...at odd ends sometimes.

Have you considered the Library? A young man as clever as you could do well there, I'm sure--or something more eclectic, perhaps, as suits your tastes.

[She sucks back lungfuls of smoke and breathes them out in a sigh.] I would happily write you a reference, is why I go forth with career advice. But odd ends can be quite refreshing for the spirit.

I had originally inquired after positions in a mortuary, but it seems as though the City has very little use for them. I do have quite a history with books, though. [ A pause as Nigel considers her suggestion. ] Are you at odd ends today, Charlotte?
