There was a pale house once in which lived two little, little pale girls, who were sisters, sisters and twins. Fragile as glass baubles. They ate each other's tongues in the basement, one, two, three, four little bites; a tongue is a tough thing to chew, although easy to swallow. Oh, a slot lost quite a lot, which is a funny thing all on its own, how much a slot can let slip. And there are so many slots lost, although most people have only one or two to lose.

Miss Saya. We seem to be in a state.

I'm not lost at all. I'm warm in the garage. I'm not a slot, though.

I think I misspoke, but all for the better. It was hardly important.

I have my cigarettes, so it could be worse. I could be dead. Or pregnant. All kinds of terrible labyrinthine consequences come to mind besides being chilly.

It's what causes them to form. You know, someone has to birth a monster worth hiding in them, some half-human and half-beast abomination that must be trapped but not killed lest the god who sent the rapist be offended. That kind of thing.

And you're right, at that. But I doubt my judgment is very trustworthy, since I am one of those awful monsters.

Oh no.

I've met monsters.

Call me awfully self-absorbed, but would you mind to give a brief sketch of how? At your discretion, of course, it's only that I'm uncertain and so, thus, I'm curious. In more ways than one.

You lack the fur, breath, and attitude.

Not to mention the teeth and the claws and all of those things can give monsters their terrorsome aspect. I'm only a flimsy little nightmare thing.
