(negativezeroes) 1) online life is the only constant in my life given that I rarely stay in the same place for more than a year or two. I moved from LA to Berkeley in Jul/Aug and will move from Berkeley to Helsinki in Dec/Jan. also move OUT of Helsinki to (undetermined) NEXT august
(negativezeroes) BUT... since 2002 I have always had the same LJ
(negativezeroes) since 2001 always the same AIM
(negativezeroes) since 1999 the same 'name' online
(negativezeroes) 2) legacy from back when "the internet is for porn... the internet is for porn...
(negativezeroes) 3) largely legacy as well if you ask me from back when everyone was a pornbot
(negativezeroes) 4) the friendship won't dissolve when I move... --> points to 8 and 9 as well
(negativezeroes) 5) too easy to blend into, say, video games
(negativezeroes) 6) it WOULD have gotten awkward if it was a pornbot from 1995
(atirtelzah) online friends get to know you better than real friends, because...they only see the parts of yourself that you see
(negativezeroes) but no cons as far as I can tell unless you WERE hiding yourself
(negativezeroes) 7)... I've received a few things but rarely try to give them
