Picking up the pieces

Feb 01, 2008 23:38

Well, it has been quite a while since I've posted on here.  First post of 2008.

J-Term was easy, fun, and enlightening.  Spring Semester has just begun.

I have Spanish again, with la profesora loca.  She talks faster in two or three languages than I could ever dream of talking in English.  DB and I just sit there and hope she doesn't call on us, because our Kentucky minds (use to slower Southern speech) can't keep up very well.  But I think we can survive a few more semesters.

I can already tell that Basic Reporting is going to be a great class.  Great professor, great students, great material to learn about.  And I don't even like journalism!

My other classes are Fitness for Life (easy, but helpful), Foundations for Christian Formation (waste of time.  their approach to this class is ALL WRONG), Leadership (will be cool, but easy), Intro to Computer Technology (easy as pie!) , and Public Speaking (haven't had this one yet, but I am dreading it with every fiber of my being).  Man, I will be glad when these Gen Eds are out of the way.

People are cool up here.  We have a lot of fun.  It is good to have everyone back, since J-Term was optional and not all of my friends were here.  College is a good time.

In other news...
LOST is back on.  The premiere was great.  I just wish there were more than 8 episodes to be expected.  When is this Writer's Strike going to make any progress?
I have seen some good movies lately: 27 Dresses (hilarious), August Rush (refreshing), and 3:10 to Yuma (Just freakin' awesome).
I also saw Cloverfield.  There is just one word to describe that movie... ugggggggggggggh.  Atonement could have been good, but ended up being awkward and unsatisfying.
Working on some writing stuff, as well as the usual homework for usual classes.
Once again, in college, the reading never ends.
I don't know what to think of politics these days.  I am officially a registered Republican as of my last trip home.  I know, it's about time.
Everytime it snows I get bombarded by my roommate and a bunch of others in an effort to get me to go sledding.  My argument: lack of hills.  And somehow, though I just realized this, it doesn't really feel right going sledding without my brother.

Grace and peace to you.
Laura
