Please Excuse My Absence
... But RL has been a bit of a bitch lately. I took a new job at the end of January which has been a financial boon for our family, but has me working 50-60 hours per week. If that wasn't enough to suck the creative life out of me, my dad had a major stroke first of April. He passed away two weeks ago after a pretty brutal fourteen week struggle. I've been peeking in on fandom, but have missed being an active participant. I'm hoping it won't take too long for my muse to return.
Meanwhile, I did manage to catch the midnight premier of DH2 on Thursday and we caught a second showing of Sunday? I liked the film a lot and think it might be the best of the bunch. It was just a good film irrespective of being part of the series.

All in all, I thought it was pretty great. Not nearly as great as the book, but closer than some of the others have come.

Nitpicks
- What happened to Peter Pettigrew?
- Percy's appearance at the battle is not explained.
- Hard to buy that Ron and Hermione would let Harry walk off into the forest alone if they knew he was going.
- Ron and Hermione's kiss was better as originally written, but I realize that they left most of the eleves rights and particularly S.P.E.W. Out of the other films so it wouldn't have made sense to non-book readers.
- Also sad that Tonks got a total of about 30 seconds screen time.
All in all, I thought it was pretty great. Not nearly as great as the book, but closer than some of the others have come.
