Living on Channel Z

Ahoy, friends in Lj-land!  I'm sorry to say that life has eaten what was left of mah brain and most of my body as well.  Staying up past 11pm or so is a feat, and on the weekends - forget it!  Literally, half of my labor day weekend was spent sleeping - I don't think I've spent that much time asleep (without the aid of narcotics) for years.

I'll cut all this crap, so you can read whatever is of interest to you.

My brother is home.  He is still suffering with moderate to severe memory loss, both short and mid-term memory.  Day to day he's still not sure about a lot of things, where things are.  The doctor's opinion right now - he cannot work, period.  His general personality is the same, and he concedes that a lot of the things that have happened over the past few years are probably due to his heart disease.  Still, I'm hopeful that he'll get better sooner rather than later, and he'll be the person he was five years ago - that'd be nice.

Lesson #1:  always get the biggest DISABILITY insurance policy you can afford, and only what you absolutely need for life insurance.  *checks that off the list*

Things here continue apace.  I've come to realize that I'm overtraining again...gaining weight because I'm cycling too much, injuring and re-injuring myself, etc.  I ripped my shoulder muscle when I fell off my bike, then ripped my left pectoral muscle (an old injury that reasserts itself if I hurt my shoulders/back), and hurt my left foot on a run.  Yesterday I went climbing for the first time in 2.5 weeks...and woke up to cramping forearms, of all things.  I'm falling apart, LOL!!

The plan was to go back to 3-4 workouts a week, TOPS, NO EXCUSES, but...I signed up for a Tuesday am toning class with some folks from work (I do a toning class Monday night, so I'll just be working on my form on Tuesday am), then I want to keep climbing, and stress is driving me to ride whenever I have a spare minute...so yeah.  At least I've taken to running non-paved trails at Sharon Woods, and only 2 miles at a clip.

I did get Honeybunch to do 2.2 miles with me on Sunday, just walking.  That's something.  And I snuck in some pureed carrots into the lasagna sauce yesterday.  :->  He's going to start on a healthier regimen, dammit, because I'll be damned if I'll have him keeling over on me.  If *I* kill him, that's one thing I can plan for...

Right now, the plan is to try and do both.  I have the hotel reservations, at least.  For Terminus, I can always switch out to a super-cheap hotel and drive/take the train to the Hilton.  My sister is planning to come to Chicago with me, so whatever happens is okay.  Chicago is only 6 hours from home, I know it, it's all good.  I may only do one/two day passes at Portus.

Paying for the rest of it...that's the thing.  Work harder!  Maybe I can get a job at Christmas time, or deliver pizzas.  Now that I'm over 30 (hell, over 25), the idea of working three jobs is unappealing!  I've been there, done that - I'm not 19 anymore.

Okay, for something a little more fun:  I was tagged by faye_jan49

1. I hate massages.  I hate for strangers to touch me, especially when I've got very little on!  I do get sports massages, and I have to tell the massage therapist that I will most likely cry, and not to worry about it.  I also have a tendency to faint the day after I have a massage, and no one knows why.

2.  I would, however, like to have a full body wax.  I like to be as hairless as possible (and, tmi, but I'd like to be completely bare down there, but the stubble and upkeep are too much for me).

3. Conversely, I like hair on men.  Not gorilla-like fur, but the last thing that is attractive to me in a man is a bare chest.   The sexiest thing on a guy is the dusting of hair at the base of the spine...mmmm.  :D~

4. I have a compulsion to use things up - pens, lip gloss, etc.  I hate to lose these things before they are gone and I don't like to buy new until the old are used up.

5.  I spent a couple of years wondering if I might be gay, but that wasn't the issue.

6. I'm a liburrul with lots of unpopular opinions that are rather tinhatty in nature.  I'm pro-stripper, pro-prostitution, pro-choice, pro-gun, anti-corporation, pro-globalization, anti-WalMart, pro-immigration, anti-PeTA,  anti-war on drugs, and anti-children's rights.  9/11 is still up in the air, as is the moon landing, LOL.

7. My critical thinking skills have always been a burden and a hindrance to me.  Those of you who also possess them understand what I mean.

There was another meme, but I'm exhausted yet again and wanna go bed.  Nighty-night!
