Because you died bravely, facing death. You did not desperately cling to life, as those who turn to ghosts do.

Do you think that was the right thing to do?

I think so. Staying as a ghost is not a selfless decision, it is the act of one who would cling to life above everything else. You died trying to protect your wife and son, instead.

Thank you Professor.

One more question, I hope you don't mind. But if we were to plan to stop my death, how much would that change the future? I don't want to make it worse out of a selfish decision.

[Oh God. To tell him or not to tell him that baby!Harry is the reason Voldemort vanished for years.]

All events alter the future. I do not know how drastically in this case.

Are you saying I shouldn't do it then? Change the future I mean.

[As scary as the thought of death is to a fifteen year old, James believes in it if that's what has to happen.]

No, I wouldn't. I am not going to advocate you meekly accept your fate. [OH DUMBLES YOU HYPOCRITE]

I merely mean that I do not know how the future will be affected. The world is made up of so many ever-shifting variables that it would be impossible to know for sure.

Okay. Thanks Professor. I think that's helped a bit.
