First off, don't trust Google Maps. Trust your internal compass.
I left early, like noon early. And good thing I did, because I got lost like Ryoga Hibiki (whoa, waaaay obscure Ranma 1/2 reference) following my OWN route.
The simplest thing: DAS (Dynamic Advertising Solutions) is located in the gated residency/office area right behind the ABC7 studios and a few blocks down from AiWashington. Duh. I drove past the place for almost four years. But Google decided to take me on a delightful romp along US-50 East and Arlington Blvd.
You know how the shortest distance between two points is the optimum route? I went the long way around. And got lost on the same road THREE TIMES before I realized where the hell I was and where the building was. I even ended up in Georgetown over by the stairwell from The Exorcist.
Anyway, I got to my interview early.
It is an internship, with a stipend (she said a "low stipend") but I could care less if they paid me minimum wage. She needs someone to bounce ideas off of, to check finished work and make sure there aren't mistakes, and generally help out. THAT'S ME. She was impressed by the fact that I draw ideas before I go to the computer, and by the actual fact that I know how to draw.
Thing is, there are two others getting interviewed for this position. She's got the last person scheduled for tomorrow. And I'll get a call on Monday whether or not I've been picked.
Fingers crossed, my drawing skills are what set me apart from these other two strangers and put me in this office. They're informal, they're located in a great place, and if I get this job I'll have my foot in the door. Right now, I'm outside the "door" banging on it with my fists and pleading to be given a chance.
*meek* Please, hire me...
