HELP HELP! My video card has gone walkabout!
So...recently my computer added a windows update. Now, either during windows boot process, or shortly thereafter, my video card cuts out, and my motherboard starts a strange beeping, not the steady "my fans are underpowered!" beep, but a different tone. I've tinkered with it for about 6 hours with no improvements, and could really use some advice.
I'm not sure if it's tied to the windows update, or hardware going bad, or heat, or PSU, or what, but it has worked fine for years without any problem remotely like this cropping up. I don't have DVI cables to check the card's other output, so I'm stuck with analog for now. Also, sometimes it won't boot at all, going straight into the odd beeping and the monitor not detecting any signal. This happens maybe 1 in 4 boots.
I apologize if i'm at all unclear, its a little late for me.
Specs
Abit aG8 motherboard
radeon x1600 vc
350 watt psu
3.00 pentium 4
Nothing special, its an old system, but its all I have right now, and I can't afford new parts for a bit. (unless I get one of these GIS jobs. wish me luck there)
