stop the insanity
myspace has gone CRAZY! I've been deleted, Cathy's been deleted, TOM has been deleted. TOM! the poster boy of myspace...GONE! Then, when I tried to sign up for a new account, i couldn't. I filled out the little form...put in my e-mail address and all that, whoo. Then I get to the little security code...where they give you a bunch of weird looking assortment of letters and numbers and you have to type it in, but all I got was the little red x of doom. ya know, like this.
It's so weird. Some people are still up and running, but awesome people like me are gone. My theory is that someone hacked into myspace and is deleted accounts like mad, then blocked the security image so no one new can sign up. That or the heat wave in CA that has been causing power outages and such has seriously messed up the servers. Now that power is coming back on, maybe there's enough power to get access to some profiles, but not to others. However, it doesn't seem like there's a pattern. I've been on the site for a year and a half or so, while Jenni just joined a couple weeks ago, and we're both booted. Peter hardly ever posts bulletins, but Derek is a bulletin whore, and both of them are still up and running. My fear is that those stupid, "repost this bulletin or get deleted" things are actually true. That would suck, cause I always ream people for posting them.
what really gets me thinking is that a couple days ago, I logged into myspace and where it usually tells me, "this is your myspace url - myspace.com/quickfingers82" yadda yadda yadda, well, this time i got "this is your myspace url - myspace.com/(a bunch of random numbers)" and it gave me a link to change/customize my url. Well, I opened a new window and typed my original url into the address bar, and everything was fine, so I didn't think anything of it. But now this?!?
i told my brother about myspace going crazy, and he said, "it's because of sexual predators. there are just too many out there, so myspace isn't taking any chances, so they're deleting people's profiles." really steve? am i a sexual predator? true, i have some of my students on here, but it's not like I send them dirty pictures or anything. i mean, geez.
while typing this blog, apparently tom has posted a notice that they're moving servers around and no one's been deleted. this brings much joy and relief to my heart. sorry steve...you were wrong.
