Transformers! Robots in disguise!

Jul 26, 2007 01:16

So I just got home from seeing Transformers, and while the part of me that goes "ZOMG CG'd robot fights!" is quite satisfied, the part of me that goes "I appreciate well-developed plot and believable characters," kind of wants those two hours of my life back. Storyline/dialogue: excruciating.

It definitely got my thumbs up for sound effects and music (some of the score had a very Hanz Zimmer-ish sound to it, but apparently it's actually Steven Jablonsky, who apparently did the score for The Island, which I seem to remember was quite good, as well as bits here and there for POTC). Also, obviously the visual effects get thumbs up, although they don't earn a "ZOMG BEST EFFECTS EVAR" from me.

Also, I did my flaily hands twice in the first 10 minutes. Once, for Amaury Nolasco (Sucre, on Prison Break), and then a second time for Samantha Smith (Mary Winchester, on Supernatural). I can't believe I didn't have a clue they were in this movie! Now the pictures of Amaury at the Transformers premiere make much more sense to me.

Josh liked it though. He seemed to share the "ZOMG CG'd robot fights!" sentiment. Because, you know, he's a guy, and in general, a lot of guys appreciate CG'd robot fights.

I still say we should have gone to see HP5.

Speaking of which: ZOMG DEATHLY HALLOWS EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! *EXPLODES*

That is all.
