Yuletide letter 2016
Dear Yuletide Writer,
Clearly, you are an excellent human being with tremendous taste and I will end up enjoying whatever you write in these universes. One of these requests is a long standing one of mine, but that’s because I still love the world and characters. Consider all of the optional details optional.
That said, in general, I enjoy stories with a lot of adventures, shenanigans, misunderstandings, found families, people awkwardly trying to express their feelings, and action/plotty hurt/comfort (where the hurt is plot-based and the comfort part is physical, like tending to wounds and clinging until the adrenaline wears off), because most of all, I love competence and characters having to work through some crap to get shit done. Happy, or at least not world-burning-terrible endings are also a plus. I’m also down with het, slash, femslash, threesomes, moresomes and gen. Any rating is fine and I've enjoyed many a PWP if the setup is there.
I’m not fond of rape or death fic, character-bashing, school/teacher/student scenarios or strong BDSM (mild powerplay stuff in any porny action is fine). Don’t feel like you have to force a pairing into your story by making some characters kiss at the end. Let your non-freak flag fly!
Old Kingdom - Garth Nix -- Sabriel/Touchstone
I’m desperate for more stories that take place during the restoration of the Kingdom, between the first two books. I just want to read all about Sabriel and Touchstone clearing out parts of Belisaere, training charter mage recruits, or rebuilding Charter Stones. Give me all of the adventures where these two have to be smart and strong and even a little lucky to work their way towards a new Old Kingdom. Any romance would be a cherry on the top of a perfect sundae, but isn’t required to make me happy. You can also include the kids too, if you want.
What I’m crazy into here is the world of the books and the rebuilding of the Kingdom. If instead, you wanted to set the story after the end of the books so that you can include the whole royal family and Lirael as well, I would also definitely be into that. I just want more of these small adventures and trials that expand on the world of the books and get into the nitty gritty of running the Kingdom and how both Sabriel and Touchstone handle growing into their titles.
All In - Monsta X ( Music Video) -- Any
There’s so much to dig into in the world of this music video. How did all the guys meet? What drew them together? Tell me more about Hyungwon and Minhyuk’s relationship or tell me about what’s going on with Kihyun. Other important questions to be answered: Just how much homoerotic touching happens when they brew the flowers? How is Hoseok so attractive? Where did Jooheon get those guns? What in the world is that thing in the sky? Any amount of world-building will make me happy and any pairing you feel inclined towards is great as I'm a multi-shipper at heart, however a relationship isn’t a requirement. Just tell me more about this world.
Obviously, there’s some new canon with the Fighter video and you should work in as much or as little of that as you want. Especially as I'm not sure how half of that video connects to All In, but I'm also willing to roll with whatever theories you might have. There are so many hints of a bigger world that I would love to see explored. Society is clearly in a bad way, what’s life like on a daily basis? What do the guys do for fun when they aren't resisting an oppressive military presence? I'm down for whatever kind of exploring you want to do.
Mamamoo -- Any
Oh, the ladies of Mamamoo. I just want to read a million words about their group dynamic in whatever setting you want. They could be continue to be kpop stars, or they could be ghostbusters, detectives, thieves, witches, under the sea, in space, in the past, in the future, or wherever your heart takes you. They just have such a fun, playful time together while giving each other shit and flirting in equal measure. Shipping the members is totally fine and I’m not attached to any one pairing. As long as all the girls are involved in the story, I’ll be happy.
While Mamamoo is crazy talented, I’m here for them because they’re basically friendship goals. Like this Weekly Idol episode shows, they’re clearly comfortable being complete idiots with each other and that’s a dynamic that’s a big yes for me. They are also hella g a y and that is also a big yes for me. This is a fandom where I would read any configuration of of pairings, as I think all the girls have chemistry with each other.
Stranger Things (TV 2016) -- Nancy Wheeler/Steve Harrington/Jonathan Byers
I'm completely smitten with the idea of Nancy, Steve, and Jonathan: future monster hunters. These kids really got to shine when they had a big, nasty problem to solve and I would love to see them tackle similar situations. Maybe they travel the Midwest, looking for similar stories, places where the fabric between worlds has been stretched too thin and bringing relief to other families. Or maybe their future is more mundane and they protect the kids of Hawkins from normal, earthly terrors. I am interested in these three as a romantic relationship, whether it be a V-shape with Nancy in the middle, or a triangle-shape with all three having equal bonds. However, where these three are in the process of establishing that relationship can be more open-ended, or even only vaguely implied (if you wanted to stick with how canon portrays things). Basically, I think both Steve and Jonathan would follow Nancy anywhere and would love a fic exploring that. Her righteous fury is a sight to behold and I think that would drive both this complicated relationship and any future ass-kicking endeavors.
I marathoned Stranger Things fairly recently and fell head over heels for the show. I love the tone of the series, it’s muted and forlorn at times, but still ultimately hopeful and with some laughs thrown in. As I stated in my request, I’d love to see more monster-hunting adventures. There must be other things besides the Demogorgon that lurk in the Upside Down or other places where people have accidentally opened gates to other realities. Include as many of the other characters as you want. Maybe Eleven comes back to help fight another monster or maybe the boys help Nancy, Steve, and Jonathan catch a particularly nasty group of bullies.
