Letter time
Dear Yuletide Writer,
First of all, clearly you are an excellent person with tremendous taste and I will end up enjoying whatever you write. Consider all of the optional details optional. That said, in general, I enjoy stories with a lot of adventures, shenanigans & misunderstandings, people awkwardly trying to express their feelings, and action/plotty hurt/comfort (where the hurt is plot-based and the comfort part is physical, like tending wounds and clinging until the adrenaline wears off), because competence. Om nom nom competence. I'm down with het, slash, threesomes, moresomes and gen. I'm not fond of death or rape fic (this makes FF6 a real conundrum), character-bashing or strong BDSM (basically, mild powerplay stuff in any porny action is fine). Also, don't feel like you have to force a pairing into your story by making some characters kiss at the end. Let your non-freak flag fly!
Alloy of Law - Brandon Sanderson -- Wayne (Alloy of Law)/Waxillium "Wax" Landrian/Marasi Colms (download)
How do I even start? There’s so much that I want for this fandom that I can’t even begin to form sentences. This novella only exists to make me want stories. Tell me about Wax and Wayne being partners pre-canon. Tell me about Marasi joining their mission post-canon, since something big is definitely hinted at in the epilogue, or maybe she becomes a successful lawyer/judge and kicks ass all over Elendel. Tell me about how they all bone, because obviously that’s going to happen. I’m just so charmed by how all three of them are charmed by each other and their competence. A threesome isn’t necessary to make me happy, but I would love all three characters included even in a non-romantic capacity, unless you decide to set your story pre-canon, in which case, woohoo, bring on the gunslinging!
Brought this request back from last year because it's GREAT. The novella is set 300 years in the future after the end of the Mistborn trilogy, so a lot has changed and none of the older characters appear (except as religious figures) and the magic system is very interesting in the new setting. There’s a lot of genre Western influence on these characters, which means I want poker games that become shootouts and tracking outlaws through the brush and Wayne having inappropriate feelings. Because, wow, do I need a story about Wayne having inappropriate feelings. Any romantic combination of the characters would be fine with me and oh man, thinking about Wayne and Marasi teaming up while Wax is out of commission for, idk, reasons, makes me very happy.
Old Kingdom - Garth Nix -- Sabriel/Touchstone
I’m desperate for more stories that take place during the restoration of the Kingdom, between the first two books. I just want to read all about Sabriel and Touchstone being awesome and clearing out parts of Belisaere, training charter mage recruits, or rebuilding the Charter. Give me all of the adventures where these two have to be smart and strong and great. Any romance would be a cherry on the top of the sundae, but definitely isn't required to make me happy. Include the kids too, if you want.
What I’m crazy into here is the world of the books and the rebuilding of the Kingdom. If instead, you wanted to set the story after the end of the books so that you can include the whole royal family and Lirael as well, I would also definitely be into that. I just want more of these small adventures that expand on the world of the books and get into the nitty gritty of running the Kingdom.
Fast & Furious 6 (2013) -- Gisele Harabo/Han Lue
FIX IT. Fix it, fix it, fix it, fix it. I don't care how you solve the terrible problem of this film (and I'm not talking about the runway that was the length of Spain) but I need it solved. Clearly, this franchise has some pretty loose rules when it comes to death and physics, so take advantage of that as much as you want. Handwave Tokyo away, create the most unlikely reunion, or just give me a story from somewhere else before the movie starts. Mostly, I just want more adventures with Han and Gisele, however you have to mess with canon to make that happen.
Again, I don't care how you deal with this problem, just fiiiiiix it. Make it an AU, make Tokyo Drift a dream in a snowglobe, make Mia a necromancer or something and Han can go through some season 6 Buffy shit, I don't care, as long as it comes with a happy (living) ending. Let Gisele go on a murder spree, or have Han gain superpowers. DO WHATEVER IS NECESSARY. Include as much of the rest of the gang as you want, I love them all. As I mentioned, I don't care for death fic in general, but clearly you'll have to deal with that if you deal with the events of Tokyo, and that's fine as long as shit gets resolved. Fucking Tokyo. WHO GOES TO TOKYO. IS TOKYO EVEN REAL. TOKYO IS A LIE TOLD BY JERKS WHO LOVE SADNESS.
Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries -- Jack Robinson/Phryne Fisher
Now, I know I'm not alone in wanting to see Jack and Phryne get together. Their chemistry on the show is insane, so I'd love a story that incorporated their intense blend of mutual respect and attraction. Case-fic is obviously perfect for this, maybe it's time for Jack to go undercover again? Or for Phryne to end up over her head in yet another subculture (sailing! counterfeit jewelry! model trains!) and handle it with aplomb. Whether or not they actually get together is up to you (but they should get together).
I could read Jack/Phryne first time fic for, I don't know, decades? With or without porn (though, really, I am all about some porn), Jack and Phryne finally getting together is where I'm at. The ridiculous tone of the show is wonderful and fic in that same vein that deals with a case or one of the members of Phryne's found family would make me super happy. Tropes and AUs are also welcome, as long as Phryne and Jack maintain that respect and attraction along with jobs where they have to rely on their intelligence and wits. But really, shouldn't be making out and Jack be going down on Phryne already? THE ANSWER IS CLEARLY YES.
