A workout partner is always welcome- and, don't worry, I'm sure we could work out something that'd work for both of us. Also, maybe Julie could join, as she'd like to do so, but really doesn't like the idea of working out at a gym. I bet you'd be able to find a way to pursuade her, especially if it's just the two of you.
Heh, don't worry, I won't assign you any story writing ^.^ I need to assign myself some more of reading your journal :) I need to log onto here more often.
And, vicarious college education! Well, you've come to the right place (depending on the level of detail desired). I'm taking a computer science class called Algorithms, which is the study of how to write programs that work in the fastest time possible. It's a great way to tie your brain in a knot, or to take everything you know and turn it on its ear. For instance, take multiplication- you know the method most people do to multiply? The method which most people are taught is by, let's say you have 23x17. You do 20x10+20x7+3x10+3x7=391. However, there is an old Russian way of doing it which the peasants were taught, which involves taking the two numbers, and doubling one each time, and halving the other (rounded down). For instance:
23 17
46 8
92 4
184 2
368 1
Then, you take all of the numbers from the left column for which there is an odd number in the right column, and add them together. In this case: 23+368=391. Crazy, isn't it?
