This is going to be a very long entry.
"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace...
All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again."
-The Bible, Song of Solomon.
The past few months are somewhat hard to describe. They've been unlike any other months I've lived through any other time in my life. I've had so many reality checks, so many good times, so many bad times... the usual, but unusual just the same. Some of my hopes and dreams have come true, some I'm still wishing for. Nonetheless, I'm alive, and that should be saying something in itself. I'm living, I'm breathing, I'm seeing, and I'm enjoying life. You can't just sit by and document everything, because it doesn't work that way. I've been too busy living and writing other things to update, but as the school year's wrapping to a sad yet long-awaited close, here I am, writing.
Um. Where should I start? Band Festival sounds good. We had several after school rehearsals, and we finally pulled everything tightly together to get a I (Superior) rating, making it 35 straight years and now 36 Superior's Mrs. Smalley's band have received during her long, awarding career. Wind Ensemble played Russian Sailors Dance and The Witch and the Saint, and the Concert Band played Cimarron Sketches and Coat of Arms. All Area Band was fun... I was back from lunch on time this year!
I attend Marshall University's Single Reed Day on April 8th, then my mom, Courtney, and I went to Golden Corral to eat before Courtney and I went to Hurricane's Spring Flings. It was fun... good times, good times.
The next week consisted of working on my English research project on jazz and getting ready for the band trip.
BAND TRIP! SPRING BREAK 2006! So many memories, so little time.
Bus ride down to Florida, two days at Walt Disney World, spending the nights at Disney's All Star Music Resort, the Spectro-Magic Pre-Parade, a three-day cruise aboard Royal Caribbean International's Sovereign of the Seas, with stops at Nassau, Bahamas and RCI's private island, Coco Cay, with an interesting bus ride home.
I really don't feel like going in depth, because to tell you the truth, I could write an entire book about it. Highlights include: RORY DELETING MY PICTURES, YOU STUPID FAG. Ahem. Highlights include: Elton John lookalikes at Disney World, hypothetical situations, Wishes, my first Tower of Terror ride and losing it afterwards, piano swimming pools, the parade, spending an entire afternoon searching for Charlie, stepping foot onto that beautiful vessel, the New Jersey girls, the waiters and food service, dinner with Jesus and the gang, the beach, Roast Duck and Mango Salsa, Armstrong in the Love and Marriage game show, jacuzzis, ping pong, no balance/just kidding, water fountains right beside of water vending machines, vasectomy signs, beating Dwayne in an eating contest at the Wendy's in Rock Hill, NC and getting a free frosty for it, hopes and dreams, Courtney Turley losing her luggage, Rory's love life, or rather, the lack thereof...
It was a good trip.
I went to the First Annual Pullman Square Jazz Festival with Courtney on April 29th... lots of Midland people showed up toward the evening, and we had fun. Hehe.
Jazz Band and the two Show Choirs performed for the school, and they loved us. The next evening I went to Putnam County's All County concert. My girlfriend got 3rd chair. Props to her for not sucking. :) Then we had our own Spring Concert on Thursday, May 4th. It was a sad evening because I finally realized the seniors were leaving... Hon. :(
Courtney and I went to go see Mission: Impossible III the next Sunday evening, and we went to the mall the next day where she bought me a new backpack. Yay. I baked brownies for Olivia Jones' Birthday on Monday the 15th, and I got paid to do it again the same week. We had the Talent Show, and Rod and Matt's band, El Dorado, won playing Johnny B. Goode, Play That Funky Music White Boy, and I Feel Home. Hurricane had their Spring Concert on the 18th. Our Jazz Band played at Ritter Park on the 20th, and Courtney and I went to the mall for a few hours afterward.
I applied for a job at CIS (Culloden Independent Supermarket), but I called a few days later and they had hired somebody else.
2006-2007 CMHS DRUM MAJORS:
Kayla Pauley, Kristen Footo! Assistants Katie Jones and Jessica Tackett!
Academic Awards were Tuesday night, the 23rd. I sat beside of Ashley Hewett again, and that was pretty cool. It was a nice ceremony, I got my academic letter, and they had punch and cookies afterwards. The Band Banquet was the night before last, on the 25th, and it was held at Beulah Ann Baptist Church. Sigh. Good food, sad evening.
I hung out with Rory yesterday, and we had a good time. I brought Animal House, we watched that, then we picked up Alex McPherson, then when Barker wasn't home, we met him at Speedway. We managed to walk into Hibachi in downtown Huntington right as they were crossing our names off the list. I caught every shrimp the guy threw at me! Then we went to go see X-Men III, and might I say it was one hell of a movie. If you ever see it, be sure to stay until after the credits. 'nuff said.
So I had a job interview at Wendy's this morning. How did that you go, you ask? Well, it sort of didn't. The lady I was supposed to be interviewing with said that the manager who set me up didn't tell her, and they were understaffed today. So, she asked me to come back Monday morning at 9:30AM. I really hope I get the job... I need it.
One more week of school left to go. Thank God... I'm so ready for this year to be over. The band's doing a time travel show next year, and we're competing in the Toyota Gator Bowl competition. It's pretty heavy.
Stay Classy, folks. And keep Georgia on your Mind.
P.S. new lj layout.
