I was always biased toward Moffat cos I was a fan of coupling and also obsessed with jekyll miniseries (tho honestly it was kind of terrible). But the things he does best are also my favorite things- creepiness, witty banter, and romance, and especially all 3 at the same time YES thank you, thanks. I liked RTD just fine but in a show about TIME TRAVEL there was hardly any timeline confusion, paradoxes, and highjinks. Except for Blink, which, well Moffat wrote that one.

Im just crazy about River also tho, Alex Kingston is just omg I love her, also I fangirled pretty hard when Sophie Okonedo was cast as Liz10 cos yes. yes, thank you. I just lovelovelove how Doctor/River's relationship is COMPLETELY DEFINED by the paradoxes of time travel and also it is so tragic and strange UGGHHHhh I just had the best time guessing about who she was, she killed a man omg did she kill THE DOCTOR how come she can fly the tardis, knows his real name, she's totally married to the Doctor in the future hints were not subtle BUT how in the world would he get roped into that lol, etc. Solving the Doctors 13 regenerations limit fit in so well too. Also have been dying for lady time lords since the 25 tragic seconds of DoctorDonna SIIIGGGH.

Actually, my most most favorite bit is when Amy is sitting alone terrified in the forest and the doctor abandons her, and then a moment later he has this kind and tender talk with her and it seems TOTALLY out of nowhere and a bit out of character and then later you find out WHY and that was my biggest holy shit moment of the whole series so far, loved it.

So, thats a huge difference cos RTDs finales have the doctor in a showdown with epic badguys, which is fine cos I loved the Master (the first time not the second), and Moffat's finales revolve around spacetime continuum disasters and showing a paradox ACTUALLY DESTROYING REALITY yes thank you time travel show! Everyone who write that stuff figures out how to deal with paradoxes but his were flat out bizarre and wonderful and great.

Im just hurting cos I rewatched my favorite 11 episodes just last week and today I learn about this BETRAYAL 8|

Hmmm, true! I think they both have their strengths and weaknesses, though I feel like Moff does a bunch of cool storylines and then just...abandons them...like who blew up the Tardis? Was it the Silence? If so, the Silence were trying to prevent the Doctor from destroying the Universe but if they blew up the Tardis that WOULD destroy the Universe, who was the one saying "Silence will fall" when River kept dying over and over again the Tardis, etc etc ahhhh!!! Moffat!! *shakes fist*

I guess the thing I want to know too, is if with the restarting universe, everything was reverted...does that mean Rose/Martha/Donna were ever even companions? Since Moffat confirmed that the 21st century invasions and such were all wiped out and erased and never happened...did the companions even happen? Whoo know I'm starting to ramble on, ignore me. :D

I do love Alex's River. THOUGH I was SO MAD with how they did "Mels"...instead of having her pop in occasionally it was "montage! She's been BFFs for forever! Here's Nina Toussaint-White she's amazing and dead now" haha. I just loved her Mels, I wish she had lasted longer than one episode. And yeah, I LOOOVE River as a character, though I hated the "She's mysterious (cool!) oh wait she's Amy and Rory's daughter (wait, what? okay...) and she's also a TIME LORD (what?!?!)" It just toward the end got very mary-sue-fanfiction-y for me, though I just ignore her background because as a character, I love River. :D

I loved the Master both times but the only part I hate is the random "I went blonde" moment lol. I even read an interview where John Simms was like "Yeah that was my idea I really dunno why I wanted that" hahaha. :D

Are you excited about the 50th!? I'm so sad Eccleston won't be in it. He was my least favorite of the new Doctors but...still...sad. :(

River is definitely a Sue but I don't mind sues as much as I used to, as long as they have a personality. Rose was a Sue but I only disliked her chemistry with 10, not her as a character (tho I still HATE how she treated Mickey, and double hate for having Mickey marry Martha as some sort of bullshit consolation prize and being someone's rebound TWICE!!!! and the two black people have to get together OBVIOUSLY).

Honestly when I think about it too hard Moffat's storylines are a hot mess (yes, WHY DID the tardis explode??), but I enjoyed them because constant time travel WOULD totally be a mess. The only other way to solve paradox problems is the theory of time travel constantly branching people off into alternate realities but that takes all the danger out of interfering with history.

If anything, I'm more mad that Clara and Moffat are staying while Smith goes which is the opposite of everything I want. Being impossible is a good way to get her off the show, less tragic than Donna but something that could easily be final since they have the rule of not killing off companions. Having her exist only to save the Doctor is super gross but sigh.

I think from now on every time theres a change people are going to be all can we have a lady doctor yet?? But everyone knows lady doctor is not going to happen (maaaaybe a doctor who isn't white EVENTUALLY but now I just want to settle for a nonwhite or nongirl companion blaaaah). I'm not against it but I definitely do NOT trust Moffat with a lady doctor. River is the closest we'll get BUT her existence entirely revolves around the Doctor as does Amy's (Rory helped draw some of that away but honestly not often or successfully) and Clara's. Rose was in love with the Doctor but her personality was not shaped by him so heavily nor was he meddling in her timeline before she was an adult. Love Madam Vastra/Jenny/Strax tho, not sure which writer created them however.

One thing RTD really had going well was his female characters and more diversity. Moffat's run has been significantly younger whiter and straighter (just saw an article slamming the show as THUNDEROUSLY RACIST- I wouldnt go that far personally cos my expectations are super low but lol I love outraged Brits. Thunderously. They do have higher standards though which is nice. If I want to watch a sf/f show that is 99.999% white I'll watch more American tv thanks) and I am ready for him to go. I can't imagine what direction he could take the show without having it jump the shark cos he skirts dangerously close to it all the time.

Tho if any show could possibly be immune to jumping the shark it would be Doctor Who!

I didn't know that about resetting earth's timeline like that, dunno how I feel about it. I don't have any expections for the 50th, maybe if it was gonna be longer than an hour, or a two-parter :( budget was slashed last season tho.

Saw Richard Ayoade's name being thrown around for 12 which I wouldn't mind at all lol! Read they're likely going to stick with young 30ish doctors since new who has a lot more action and running, heh. Also read Smith left cos he was burning out :( UUUUuuugh I'm gonna miss him so much tho!! I'm not readyyyy. Even tho 10 basically having a whiny farewell tour made me go OMG JUST GO ALREADY. There's gotta be a way to say goodbye that makes me ready without making me hate the doctor first. But there probably isn't. It sucks cos for months BBC said Smith was definitely on for season 8, while we knew Tennant was leaving for a whole YEAR. :C I really want it to be someone I haven't seen in anything tho. Also Neil Gaiman agrees with me ;p

Doctor Who this, Doctor Who that, *hands*
