Getting Away : arkhams_dr

At least fourteen hours on a plane-- even two separate planes-- was almost too much time for Duela to imagine. Still, she'd gotten first class tickets, so at least the seats were comfortable. She was a little disappointed she couldn't help herself to a complimentary cocktail... but she'd live. Though, really? Right now? A drink would be wonderful.

The young woman was calmer now, having taken time to compose herself. On their way out of Gotham, which had taken three hours, she'd stopped in the Narrows and handed off a small package. She didn't know exactly where her father was staying, but she knew someone who'd know someone who'd... Well, it'd get to him before the evening was out. It was foolish, sentimental. Even more foolish was the fact that she'd had those damn cuff links for nine years. She'd bought them the year he'd left, positive he'd come back. She'd kept them... because they always represented that tiny, unspoken hope she'd insisted was dead.

Now? Now, whether he wanted anything more to do with her or not, he'd have them. He wouldn't know when they were bought. Maybe he'd think she was trying to appease him, like he did her mother. He wouldn't know that she'd had them all this time, waiting for him to come back to give them to him. Duela tried not to think how quickly he'd probably want to get rid of them.

"I'm sorry you got dragged into that mess," she said to the man in the seat beside hers, reaching for his hand. "I never wanted you to get hurt."
