Winter break has been underway for about half a week, now. I've been spending my time for the last few days watching anime that friends have been recommending for ages and playing video games. Oh, and feeding the fish. That last one's fairly important.
I've noticed that
reading_genji has been receiving a lot of hype recently on my flist, and that
wordofastory in particular has been raving about it. I had to read The Tale of Genji a couple years ago for an East Asian literature course, and it definitely wasn't one of my favorite reads. Even so, I decided to check out what all the hype was about. Now I'm glad I did.
reading_genji is a community that can step back and laugh at the forever long book while discussing the contents of the text, and the main character is often called a skank--which matches my interpretation of the character. So I've started rereading the book. ^_^
Otherwise, my winter break has been fairly dull. I've started to crochet again. I'm cruising through Final Fantasy IV/II. I finished watching Scrapped Princess, which I definitely recommend viewing. I'm enjoying this break as an opportunity to relax after a stressful exam week, but I'm definitely looking forward to next semester starting up. Untill then, I have more games and a really old Japanese novel to keep me company. And fish. =P
