I'm not so picky as to actually arrange it one way or the other, but I do have a preference. Should toilet paper be hung in the

overhand

or

underhand

fashion?

This was the most complicated thought I had this morning. It is seriously nasty out.

I HATE THE PREMATURE RIP!!!
and i don't like how underhanded the paper usually touches the wall. not that the wall is really gross or anything...

Overhand. I don't even understand how this is a debate. Underhand is just clearly and obviously wrong. I don't consider it a major inconvenience or anything, but it's still obvious that if you're paying attention to which way the roll goes in you should be hanging it overhand.

i agree. i'm probably one step beyond you in terms of psychosis (shocking, i know) because i need to switch an under to an over. at least in my own bathroom. dave & i used to have silent over/underhand battles in the manse.

i'd like to see a nationwide poll on this, with demographic breakdowns.

that "improper overhand fashion" thing from the simpsons always drives me crazy. but my interpretation is that it is an allegory that illustrates a basic way our government continually fails us: not only are they casting moral/legal judgment on things that are none of their business, their approach in doing so is completely ass-backwards to both reason & popular consent. the show 'the simpsons' is not endorsing underhand toilet papering. in fact, in having the simpson family hang their paper overhand, they are asserting that as the popular american approach. i've given this a lot of thought. mostly just now, upon waking up. my analysis may not be entirely unassailable...

Me, I, yours truly - I am the one who does it "backwards" or "wrong". I NEED to have it under. It is the only way for me. And I am breeding more little people whom I will raise to do the same exact thing. So there, we're multiplying & one day we will take over the world.

if it makes you feel any better i sometimes think of an episode of the simpsons in which child protection comes for the kids and agents scrutinize the house. amongst their damning indictments is "Toilet paper hung in improper overhand fashion."

so, you've got on in your corner. :) and while i prefer overhand, it doesn't really bother me. what's with the NEED?!

The NEED is that I will switch it to my way prior to ripping. I am neurotic about some things.

The underhand method is more pleasing to the eye.
It helps when tending to the ugly business at hand.
