Never mind! I attempted a late entry submission and it worked! Which means that I get to write a Yuletide letter. =)
Thank you so much for your story! I am already excited about it, and I'm sure I will like it because I always like presents. Hard not to, I think. But in general terms:
What I like best in fiction, reading and writing, is character. What makes someone tick, and how relationships between characters work (or don't work, as the case may be). I am not so much interested in romance, and in my stories romantic relationships tend to be at best hinted at or suggested or possible, rather than outright mush. This is not to say I will hate any story with more conventional romance. Not at all! I enjoy that as well, I just prefer the focus to be elsewhere. I also don't read explicit sex, so please think R rather than NC-17 if your tastes as a writer incline that way. As for my fandoms:
Engine Sentai Go-onger - Gosh, I love the Go-ongers. They are cracky fun. They haven't trained for this, they aren't getting paid, they are surviving on eggs in a little mobile bus and they still think (I'm looking at you, Gunpei) that having freaking huge colored mecha and fighting crime is the coolest thing ever. I'd love to see a look at a typical off-day with the Go-ongers, or anything that deals with their team dynamic. If you don't want to write about all of them, I love Sosuke/Renn interaction as well as Gunpei/Hanto. (Again, character dynamics are key here, not romance, but I won't mind if it's slipped in there.) I'm not as fond of the Wings, but if you like them, include them! Almost anything Go-onger will make me happy, as long as it isn't a Saki/Sosuke romance. I don't think I could handle that.
GoGo Sentai Boukenger - I am going to state straight out here that I love Masumi. Absolutely and without question. He is angry, a drama queen, frightfully insecure and emotionally needy and I think he is wonderful. Pretty much anything with Masumi as a focus will make me happy. I also love his relationship with Natsuki, whether it be as siblings, friends, or more romantically inclined. I included Eiji in my list of characters because he is my next favorite and he plays well off of Masumi, but of course including any of the other Boukengers would only be a plus. My one caveat is that I am not as fond of Akashi and Sakura, especially together. There is no doubt that Sakura likes him, of course, but I'm not sure I can ever believe that Akashi would take his head out of adventuring long enough to notice.
Invader Zim - Ah, Dib and Zim. This one I have to say definitively that I do not want it slashy. Not that there haven't been good ones out there, but too often I see their incredibly complex and obsessive rivalry both explained and dismissed by sexual tension. It is used as a crutch, and I want to see them without it. I'd love to see a look at the future of Dib and Zim's rivalry without making it slash, just for the challenge of it. What happens when a childhood rivalry grows up? I can think of dozens of possibilities, so if this is your challenge, go with anything non-slashy.
Tamora Pierce - Circle of Magic series - Tris fascinates me, and has since the first book of the circle. She has so much power, so much to hold in check, and comes out of so much bitterness and anger to depend upon her family. I also enjoy the indications in the books that she has an especially close relationship with Briar. I hold to the belief that the circle means it when they call each other foster-siblings, and I'm not fond of incest, so I would definitely prefer a brother-sister relationship here. I'd love to see something post-Empress, but anything in the Circle universe would be great, including interaction with the other members of the circle and their teachers.
Again, I am so excited! And if you happen to have a fabulous idea that you're worried doesn't fit my comments exactly, don't be. Surprise gifts are often wonderful too. =) I hope you have a wonderful Yuletide!
