sweet dreams are made of these, who am I to disagree

Hello! Just got back from the geology trip, and it was actually kind of fun. Cast: yours truly, Mr. Langley, Hope Stevens (plus her dog Brooks), Matt, Kyle, Couper, KJ, Kong, Anna, Alexis, Cait, Jess, Holly and Lauren Porter. What we did: well, we loaded into the short bus at 7:00 Saturday morning and started driving. And we drove. And drove. And drove some more. We stopped at the Swiss Inn for breakfast and looked at the "cow" and then drove some more. Anna gave us a tour of Mill City, pointed out Latif's house, etc. We passed Detroit Lake. We went to Fort Rock which was nice since it was sunny and warm. However, guess who forgot to pack sneakers? Yes, me. So I did all the hiking in flip flops. More on that later. Fort Rock is this cool semi circle of steep cliffs formed by a lake and a volcano. I'm sure there are pictures on the internet if you're unclear. We walked around and climbed to the top of these really high cliffs (all in flip flops) which was awesome because it was a sheer drop and we could see for miles around. Ah, gorgeous. We sort of ate lunch, then headed back on the road again. We stopped at...get ready...Hole in the Ground, and if that's not enough, Big Hole as well. Needless to say, they're craters. In the ground. Only accessible by washboard gravel roads. I swear the bus was just going to fall over and die. However, we got back to the paved highway alive, even with Mr. Langley's sketchy driving skills. That's when we started writing signs to put on the back window for other drivers to see. Our first sign was "if you can read this, Langers is driving too slow" for the guys in Hope's car. Go us, we're so cool. Then we started getting other people following us, and had to think up more clever signs. We got this one group of guys in a car to honk (because they loved short buses) before they passed us waving. We tried to go see lava tubes, but we were actually convinced the bus was going to fall apart, so we just went back to the hotel. We ate dinner at Kayo's Roadhouse in Bend, then me, Cait, and Jess stayed up watching old black and white movies before I fell asleep on my really sketchy rolling cot. Ask me later if you're curious. The next morning we got breakfast at the hotel, then the aforementioned trio managed to get ourselves locked out of our room even though we had both room keys with us. For some reason, neither would work so we had to get another key at the front desk. Cool. Then back on the bus. We drove through Sisters then up to McKenzie pass which was really cool. However, it would've been much cooler if it wasn't 33 degrees, windy, and raining/hailing. And guess who forgot sneakers. I couldn't really feel my toes as I was running back to the bus, but I think they're all accounted for now. Wait...Anyway, we ran around looking at rocks and getting soaked for a while, but managed to get back on the bus before it started snowing. We all stripped on the bus because we were so cold we didn't give a fuck, and we headed back to Sisters. Cait, Jess and I had a lot of fun in the Dime Store, then we drove back home. It was a pretty uneventful ride besides the fact that Anna had to pee every half mile (just kidding, I love you!) And now I'm back home doing homework on my no homework weekend. Wee!

P.S. Cait, you want to burn me a CD with all the trip pictures on it? Or post them online? Or something? (Considering I took half of them ;) ) Thanks! I love you! Even if you did decide to spoon with Jess instead...
