Too hot too busy
It's so hard to do any decent online dossing at the moment, using my laptop is an exercise in overheating an already hot room and it's only mildly better in this room (the one with the desk top which is nominally GB's). Plus on the desktop I don't have trillian or access to my files which are no longer on my pen drive cos varno told me I shouldn't permanently store files on it. Grr.
At work it's just icky hot in most locations. It's cooler in some areas than others but basically it's icky hot in most areas. It makes it hard to think straight and get anything done. Plus I had a run in with the annoying little shit in the Press Office at Town Hall this week. She can't write Press Releases for toffee. This time apart from writing boring copy generally she'd added in a shit load of unimportant background info into a promotion for a children's event. Parents don't want to read about all the accolades of the poet when they read an article, they want to hear that he's done it before and that it'll be fun and entertaining and in what way. Stupid cow. Still mysteriously she has got us an interview on Time FM. Lord knows how with her inability to write english.
Lighthouse looms and is exciting and frustrating. I'm only going for a day and a half sigh. Plus it's turning this weekend into an impossible cypher at the mo. Well sunday is anyway. I have to go to Lighthouse site orientation about the same time as bbq for PM's birthday and my Uncle's wedding anniversary. Gha. Plus I can't get m&d to cart me anywhere as they're going straight from a weekend away with the Catholic Artists Society to my Uncle's :(
I am also fed up because S's present still hasn't turned up from Amazon. What IS going on there? In other present news am currently drawing a blank with PM's birthday come ex Rotaract Presidency present. I'll come up with something eventually.
In less moany news I've been listening to Shakira's Oral Fixation album and been a bit disappointed. Laundry Service, whatever you may think of Shakira was actually pretty good, but this one doesn't even have that track they play a lot on my free music channels - Hips don't lie (I know it has Wyclife Jean on it but trust me it's still good). I still like Don't bother but the rest is a bit well... poor. Not making decent use of her strengths ie her world music influences and ending up sounding like a boring version of mainstream music.
Gotta go eat lunch.
