Midsummer Masque

Last weekend was a bit out of the ordinary - a superb event, beautiful location, beautiful costumes. Best of all, we didn't have to do anything except show up!

Glynllifon Mansion is a big house in North Wales. In pretty nice condition, but I think it's not used as much as it ought to be, so it was good to see a ball like this taking place. It was a masqued ball, with a theme of fairies and woodland creatures. I gutted a fox head I happened to have around the place and stuck it on my head. The brown suit of ubiquity and away I went, as George Clooney, in 'The Fantastic Mr Fox'. Well, that's what I thought anyway.

A lovely evening. Masks off to Emma for organising it, and the Anglesey Hussars for shooting cannon at passing taxis outside.

It's a fair hike up to the top left corner of Wales, so we were glad that Arfon and Beth live nearby and we could spend the weekend with them too.

I'm looking forward to their Mayan End of The World celebration to close 2012.
