What is Design?

Feb 20, 2006 02:27

Right now (ok well not *exactly* right now 'cuz I'm taking a break to do this) I'm slogging through a 10 page paper on "What is design? What is the designer's role in today's society?" Its supposed to be mainly theoretical and conceptual. Fuuuuuuuuck...I have 2 paragraphs so far and the rough draft is due on Thursday. Hahahahaaa...so here I am on LJ postphoning it even longer. Anywhoo...

Hung out with Alexis this last Saturday. It was pretty fun, I hadn't seen her in forever. Got to see photos of her year in Japan and she got me some new yaoi! 4 manga, I'd been looking for new "reading" material. :) They're all in Japanese, so I can't really read them, but you know-look at the pictures is what I mean. (Miko I have to show you one, its all about men in uniforms). We had buffola for lunch, it was pretty good as I've never had it before. And Couscous! I have discovered Couscous! Yum yum yum... Cesar bought me a copy of the manga "Deathnote" as an early birthday present-I'd been eyeing the series for quite awhile; heard really good things about it. Got the Japanese version so I still can't read it though. It's just that the Japanese version of the comic is designed soooo much better than the English version, it's just *nicer*. Nicer design, nicer paper, nicer quality, and about $3 cheaper, too. If you compare them side by side, you'll see what I mean. And I love the way they did the cover, whoever put that together, it just *works*. Really well. I was looking at it and was thinking, "Wow, this is one of the most awesome comic cover designs I have ever seen..." Maybe that's an odd thing to pop into your head, but that's what you get going to art school. ^^'

I have a hankering for something sweet, like cookies or chocolate and the closest we have is chocolate milk. Grrr...
