There are times I'd like to learn more about the process of filmmaking. Crash was such a fantastic movie, and I can feel that it had to do with something much less obvious than a good script. It's not particularly pretty; there aren't a lot of noticeable cinematic tricks. It's simply powerful, with solid acting (kudos to the director - he pulled some performances I'd never have thought possible out of some of his actors). I read an excellent review on indiefilms that is more coherent and obviously written by someone well informed about movies and movie making. In light of that, all I can say is, see this film.

Millions is a delightful little film about a pair of boys who find a bag full of money. It's lovely, unpretentious, and somehow very British, and I mean that in cinematic feel more than accent. The boys put in excellent performances. The story is interesting, if a little heavy-handed, but it is still a lovely little film with an ending that's emotionally satisfying but not too saccharine.
