Anyone got a spare Ark?

It's cold here.  Damned cold.  Cold sometimes causes water pipes to freeze and burst.

Boy, did they ever.  Freeze and burst and take down my dining room ceiling.  (there was a false ceiling, made from what I'm pretty sure are asbestos tiles, and which are now big piles of MUSH.  Yay, lungs!!)  Filled three contractor bags and a trash can with tiles.  Good thing the floor is made of laminate, so there's no damage there.  Not sure how the wallpaper will react to the stuff running down the sides.

Thankfully, we have an upstairs water shut off, so, we still have water downstairs so that I can rewash all the dishes that got used to catch the RIVERS of water that were falling from the sky.  Also so I can wash every towel and rug we own.  It's quite unpleasant.  The house smells like wet cardboard.  My dining room table may be kaput, the sideboard less so and the china cupboard is a-okay.  The water also flowed through the kitchen ceiling, and is dripping a bit there now, and also it came down into the downstairs bath through the exhaust fan.

My hair is damp from the stupid drips. I'm hoping the old knob and tube wiring is okay...old houses.  What are ya gonna do?
