"Having waste ground enough,
Shall we desire to raze the sanctuary
And pitch our evils there?"

- "Measure for Measure," Act 2 Scene 2.

Shakespeare wrote this about men desiring to control the most innocent women, but isn't it a perfect metaphor also for the way we take and take and take and in the process are destroying our world? We're never content with having destroyed enough, we always want more. Sometimes I get disgusted by it all. So many of my friends drive up the hill to BS - this is a journey that takes less than five minutes to walk - and drive to Castlepoint - 10 minutes walk (from school.) And I just can't understand WHY. Why they feel that it is more beneficial to drive distances that could be walked with absolutely NO TROUBLE AT ALL, than preserve some semblance of the world we live in today. It also makes me annoyed because it's not just their world they're ruining, it's mine too. And of course I'm not perfect either, and use ten times more resources than someone in an LEDC, but at least I make an effort to use less. Most people don't even seem willing to try.
