Sorry for the lateness... again! I'm cutting close to my bedtime with this... *dies*

I love your attention to detail, if I haven't mentioned that recently. Things like giving an explanation for Gol's weights, and the mention of the beginnings of Jak's facial hair and his combing the rest of it; the little things like that are what I think makes your stories so enjoyable to me. Nothing ever feels like it's in there just to be in there.

I do so love the ear-perking. ^______^

And *gasp* you made mention of the brief period between the end of TPL and Jak II! Because even with Keira's knack for all things mechanical, she couldn't have figured out that Rift Gate/Rider in less than a day. XD

Ah, escape plan. I was hoping for him even though I knew the outcome wouldn't be in his favor. *sigh* It sucks that it took over a year for him to finally work himself up to trying to escape again. The fact that, for that span of time in between, he had little to no hope of escaping is just heartrendingly sad. ; . ;

There was no hero left in him now, no righteousness and light; he was still just as determined as he had ever been, but rather than using that determination to save a world from darkness he focused it on thoughts of escape and vengeance. Ah, but Jak, you're neglecting to consider the fact that by taking vengeance, you're going to save everyone else from Praxis' tyranny as well. :D Of course, they repay you for it by heaving you into the desert, but... er... yeah.

The memory of the Precursor Basin, like so many before it, was tarnished forever. I cannot think of a more appropriate thing to say, so I will stick to my original reaction, which was, "Waaaaah..." T____T

Ooooooh, Jak's headband was a "present" from Erol. ...Guh.

...ZOMG DAXTER. *glee* I love how he's klutzy and loud as ever (I say that in the most loving way possible XD). The last thing he wanted was a repeat of last month, when he had been beaten with a broom when mistaken for a common rodent. o.O; *dies laughing* I love Daxter... The kid has no luck. And yet, at least in this case, he has more than Jak -- rare.

And he's been hallucinating about Jak... *wibbles* THEIR FRIENDSHIP IS SO BEAUTIFUL! *weeps*

>.>; Sorry. XD But it's so true...

(WORD LIMIT, ARGH!)

...They dump the dead prisoners' bodies in the Water Slums? O.O! Good lord... No wonder all their drinking water comes from an outside source... ugh... *shudders*

They missed each other by such a tiny fraction... UGH! If only Dax had realized what was going on... pesticide blast to the FACE, Erol. The FACE!!!

I love Jak's and Daxter's reactions to the almost-presence of each other that they each feel. They're so in-tune with one another...

It was probably just a rat anyway OUCH. x . x

And for some reason that made his heart sink. DOUBLE OUCH. x___x You're killing me, here, Nashi... Can I even call you that...? XD

The mixing of eco types here is very well-done. GOD, that would suck... (understatement of the century...) First we had blue and super-speed... now we have red and super-pain... I don't want to think about what yellow+dark would do. ><

And I take it by Erol's comment that in your Jak-universe, everyone can channel eco to some degree? I wonder how Erol'd take to the dark eco experiments...

It all makes me question what was so special about Dax that the dark eco didn't taint him the way it did with Jak and Gol and Maia. Was he SUPPOSED to be a Precursor? Or is it because Jak had it forced on him, Gol and Maia did it willingly, and Daxter's episode with it was an accident? *bothered by lack of explanation in the games* Unless they DID explain it, and I'm just a big dope and missed it... XD Entirely possible...

Very good chapter! Jak'll be incapacitated now... *sighs* Poor Jak, now with broken leg. T__T

Aside: I found a couple of typos that I thought I'd point out (apparent typos in bold):
closing his eyes to push back to instinctive reaction to Erol’s presence.
made to move to leave
not really understand what Erol was talking about
understood his captive enough to keep them unbound (not sure which it was meant to be, singular or plural)
eyes wide a frenzied

Thank you very much for catching the typos! My own eyes tend to brush over pronouns and all that, so I really appreciate a pair of fresh eyes picking them up! (I recently acquired a beta, but her Life decided to bite her and she's not online much anymore, so I decided not to bother her.)

And feel free to call me Nashi! ^_^ It's usually what I go by, because the full handle is kind of long--but it's unique to my brain so it's easy to find an opening in screennames that way. But yeah, I'm trying to say that you can call me Nashi any day of the week.

I'm hoping to have the hext chapter up in about two weeks--not this next week, but the one after. I'll probably finish it before the end of this week, but I have a vacation coming up next week so I'll wait to post it until I get back, so I can do a couple more reads over of it.

And your "pesticide blast" to Erol's face comment made me laugh like a loon. I want to draw something like that now. XD

I'm having a lot more fun with these near-escapes than I probably should, if I'm at all sane, but Erol is so. dayum. sexy...I can't help it. He's so much fun to write, and his interactions with Jak are wonderful to plan, so I go nutso and make Jak do crazy things just for the end result of Erol shouting at him or shooting him or running his fingers through his hair.

It's sick. It's wrong. But it's so much fun.

They never gave an explanation of why Daxter survived his run-in with Dark Eco in the games. I have my ideas, but heck if any of them are near the truth...if there is a truth. NDI might have been lazy and never bothered with an explanation. And I assume everyone can channel eco to a degree because of what the Sages said at the end of TPL--"Jak, you have the best channeling abilities I've ever seen!" not "Jak, you can channel eco! Wow!"--so Erol gets the occaisonal buzz with blue or, on a rare occaison, blue-treated dark. That's only before a battle, though, and in very small doses.

I want to see a Dark Erol now. With horns and claws and all that. I don't honestly think his persdonality would change much in a transformation like that, though, he already has no inhibitions regarding destruction.

Blast you making me think of awesomely crazy things...*fangirls*
