A good day.

Wednesday is my last day at COSI. I begin my new job at Jane's Montessori Academy on Thursday. I was originally hired to be an assistant teacher. But, due to unforseen circumstances, it seems that I'm going to now be the substitute kindergarden teacher for at least the next three or four months. I got a promotion before I even started.

Clearly, a new wardrobe was needed. I called my friend Sarah A. to come thrift store shopping with me. (I needed someone with something resembling fashion sense. I have none.) I did very well. I call this my 'fall-pallet' wardrobe. Olive greens, oranges and browns. I'm going to look pretty snazzy.

We went to Half-Price Books. I got, on Storm's recommendation, Evolutionary Witchcraft and Spiral Dance.

Afterwards, we grabbed a bite to eat at Subway. And then we went to the movies. I saw Hellboy 2 at the second-run theatre. It was visually amazing. But the story line was a bit feeble. Guillermo DelTorro is my god.

This is going to be a pretty intense week. I'm excited and apprehensive in equal measures. I'm incredibly happy, though, that I am actively making changes. I tend to be a rather passive person. For better or for worse, though, I'm shaking up the soda can. Let's see how high the fizz flies.

When I woke up this morning, a bird landed on my window sill. Just a common robin. It pecked at the glass untill I opened up. I expected to give the customary tweet. Instead it began singing "River of dreams." I closed the window. I'm not sure I trust Billy-Joel-Song-Singing-Birds. It was a nice enough omen, albeit creepy as all hell. If I get any avians singing Elton John, I'm gonna be pissed.

Quill.
