Relationship Survey

Aug 22, 2009 01:13

In honor of Susan's and my second anniversary, which was August 19th, I am stealing a LiveJournal survey from bay_bus_rider and arlan_bishop. What, you don't think filling out a LiveJournal survey three days after the event is a good way to celebrate an anniversary? Okay, okay - I also gave her flowers and sonnets, and she took me out to dinner. But now I'm doing the survey.

How long have you been together?
Two years.

How long did you know each other before you started dating?
We corresponded for two weeks before we met. When we met, we talked for maybe an hour or two before it became an official relationship.

Who asked out whom?
She asked me.

How old are each of you?
I'm 33 and she's 43.

Did you go to the same school?
Not at the same time. She got a credential from the same place I got my B.A.

Who is the smartest?
She is. But she'll deny that, which is as it should be.

Who is the most sensitive?
Her, in both the good sense and the bad sense. But I don't think we're hugely different in either sense. At least not for the sense in which "sensitive" is a bad thing. Neither of us is precariously fragile.

Where do you eat out most as a couple?
A little cafe with food from all different countries in Asia, and an Old West saloon that used to have a brothel on its second floor.

Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
Cayucos (about a six-hour drive south).

Who has the craziest exes?
I think she does, but I have enough craziness among my exes to give her some decent competition.

Who does the cooking?
She does, mostly. I make frozen pizzas or chop garlic and potatoes. If I try to do anything else, I require extremely detailed instructions from her to perform even the simplest of tasks, and even then she usually finds the results inedible. I'm perfectly satisfied to prepare my own foods and eat them myself, but they'll never measure up to her standards.

Who is more social?
Her, but not by all that much.

Who is the neat-freak?
Neither of us, really, but she's closer to it than I am.

Who is the most stubborn?
I think I am, but I think we'd both rather not put it to the test.

Who hogs the bed?
Me, usually.

Who wakes up earlier?
We wake up at the same time, but she's the one who has to get up then.

Where was your first date?
The California State Fair.

Who has the bigger family?
She has more siblings, but I have more living parents. We certainly see more of my family than of hers.

How do you spend the holidays?
We usually have dinner with my parents.

How long did it take to get serious?
Um, maybe an hour or two? At most, if you count the two weeks we corresponded before we met and you don't count us as having been "serious" until we were discussing marriage and retirement plans, you could stretch it to about four weeks. What can I say? She was just that obviously perfect for me.

Who does/did the laundry?
We both do, but lately it's more often me, because she has a job and I don't.

Who's better with the computer?
I am. She's a Luddite.

Who drives when you are together?
We both do. She drives slightly more often, but no more than two thirds of the time, at least around town. On camping trips, she always drives because her truck is a stickshift and I don't know how to drive it.

surveys, susan
