1. What did you do in 2012 that you'd never done before?
Go a full year without any school, just working.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I resolved to be more aware and stop using ablest language which had become too present in my vocabulary and yes I was successful :)
I am going to make a "good things that happen in 2013 jar"
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No not yet. Get pregnant, yes, 2013 will be a year with a few births :)
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yeah. my mom. That has been the most relevant thing that happened all year :(
5. What countries did you visit?
this one. another goal for 2013? PASSPORT
6. What would you like to have in 2013 that you lacked in 2012?
Hm. A therapist! and a drivers license! Some more tattoos! and maybe a car/an appartment :)
7. What date from 2012 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
January 16th, is when my mom died.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Survive. And find a new way of connecting to the world/people with starting to send cards/letters to penpals. I am proud that I found something non-overwhelming to start being social again after some needed time away trying to heal from my mom's death.
9. What was your biggest failure?
I wish that I had been able to keep in better contact with people, hang out and/or actually talk to folks. And I meant to make it back to Minneapolis but wasn't ready to do that yet.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I smashed up my knee in a fall, got diagnosed with PCOS. Neither one was a majorly huge deal.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Stickers and Cards and things for sending to friends. And an additional otterbox case for my iphone.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Amber for being here for me as I've processed my grief, and logistically helping with what I needed to do in the aftermath of her passing. Also for just being an awesome partner all around. Susan for also being a superstar when I was in minneapolis. There are many of you who helped during that time :) and Jaida and Makaila for allowing me to be a part of your lives and giving me something to focus on and becoming such awesome young people :)
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Uh. I did NOT have the energy this year especially for people who are appalling or depressing.
14. Where did most of your money go?
food. and gas. and bills....wherever else money disappears to. Nothing very fun lol
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
I am pretty damn excited about keeping my head above water :D
OH and also that my words are going to be in Kate Bornstein's next book!! (my next gender workbook)
16. What song will always remind you of 2012?
call me maybe i guess. Adele (yeah i was late to catch on to her)
17. Compared to this time last year, are you...
i. happier or sadder...
generally sadder. but also more stable, less happy/sad/rollercoaster. welcome to adulthood?
ii. thinner or fatter?
somewhat skinnier
iii. richer or poorer?
richer, but not very noticeably.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
connecting with people

living one day at a time (though it was out of necessity, it is exhausting)
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
We had a nice family holiday with Amber's whole immediate family

Already was :)

Royal Pains? I like Chicago Fire too.

I really don't have time to hate people generally

Several young adult books, and Gender Outlaws the Next Generation

I have no idea
28. What did you want and got?
Penpals (im repetitive...) and good relationships with coworkers.
29. What did you want and not get?
Driver's license. About a zillion adorable baby animals
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I liked Joyful Noise. In theaters saw We Bought a Zoo which was decent
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 24. Went out for Cherry Berry frozen yogurt with Ash and Amber and then to my first ever casino
32. What's one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I mean, having my mom still alive would have made it lots better.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2012?
"Who even cares as long as it is appropriate/decent for work"
34. What kept you sane?
Amber. Being a part and getting to see Jaida and Makaila grow. Good friends who stay loving me even when I don't have much energy for interacting. Lots of distraction/the internet.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I don't know. Obama is pretty badass. Kate Bornstein, Bear Bergman, other fabulous activists doing amazing work to make the world a better place
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The presidential election/voter rights.
37. Who did you miss?
My mom. Everybody from wichita state and TGG. The whole city of minneapolis.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Lots of the cool people I work with.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2012.
If you love somebody, tell them often how much they mean to you, and make sure they know it even if you have a complicated or painful relationship because they might just not be there the next day.

The Serenity Prayer isn't exactly a song lyric but it is my theme this year.
