Emerson Hart
Last night was the Emerson Hart show at Pop's Nightclub on the "east side". My first time there. a 24/7 bar right in the middle of the strip clubs. It was not like I was picturing inside... the bathroom was really clean! lol I just had a bad image of the place in my mind.
It was acoustic, just him and his keyboard player. Very laid back. Good size crowd for the size of the space (the had only the smaller side stage and area around it open, and the main stage area closed off). Good crowd.
He did "Hallway"! LOVE that song. He said he may put the demo on myspace.
He came back out for an encore song.... "Cigarettes or Gasoline". It's about his father. He was murdered when EH was 10, and his body was never found. He said he was a lobster fisherman. He followed in his father's footsteps as a teen. The song is about the good things he remembers, like the smell of cig's and gasoline on the boat with his father. He said when he was pulling up the lobster cages, he always thought he'd see his father's face.
Talked to him for a few minutes after. He said he'd love to be on TRB next year. I put the picture with him on myspace.
