Meme Time!

Here's an abbreviated version of what I've been up to:

I worked.
My brother and his woman came for a visit. We had Thanksgiving last week. My parents and I are still having Thanksgiving tomorrow though because there is no good reason not to.
I bought stuff.

Now, on to more interesting things:

I know by now that you spent a few years in Germany but "rouladen" on your favourite food list still came unexpected and made me laugh. It's not something that I read every day here on LJ :D. And even though I think the term covers a few meal variations it's one of my favourites too. In my case with self-made Spätzle. :D

I had to look up The Price of Milk. Never heard of it before. But imdb says it never made it to Germany. But I recognised the lead actress Danielle Cormack. She was in another nice little movie called Siam Sunset. No Karl Urban though. But Linus Roache.

I've only had my mother's rouladen. I assume it's the same elsewhere? Rolled beef stuffed with mustard, pickles and ham? She makes it in a pressure cooker with potatoes and carrots, but spatzle would be nice too.;)

I came across The Price of Milk due to my earlier infatuation with Karl Urban. I highly recommend it. It's really cute. I will check out Siam Sunset. I like Danielle Cormack and Linus Roache.

Yes, then it's indeed exactly the same, including the pressure cooker :). I believe some people put different things inside, like mushrooms.

P.S. If I can manage to burn a copy of The Price of Milk, would you like for me to send it to you? Do you have a region free dvd player? I'm sure the dvd is region 1. I bought it off Amazon.

Thank you very much for your offer. No, unfortunately I don't have a region free DVD player. But the DVD drive at my computer is patched and in recent months I hooked up the PC to the TV so technically it would be possible. But are you sure you want to do this? I mean it would be quite a bit of an effort and you also would have to ship it.

Oh, I don't mind. I have a bunch of blank dvds I bought a year ago thinking I was going to burn like crazy and haven't yet. And I like sharing movies that I really like, even if it means sending them to Germany. ;) I will get with my friend later (she has the dvd burner) and if it successfully records, I will let you know and then you can email your address to me.

Ok then. But in case there are some problems copying the DVD, please don't put too much effort in it. And in case you're successful maybe you can think of something that you are missing from Germany. Well, something that can easily be shipped back across the Atlantic. ;)
