Work, work, work, and energy drinks.

Oh joy. Today was shitty.

Go in today, find out that Heather had called out so my lunch was early again. Okay, no biggie, I've dealt with that one before. But then, while I was doing something in the children's department (I was in men's today instead of on register), I find out that Fatima, apparently angry because she had gotten a speeding ticket on her way to work, had come in and then just left. Two employees down. I get stuck at register for the entire day with no backup cashier, nobody to do price checks, no opportunity to take my fifteens, and work left undone. Normally that wouldn't be so bad, but it's Friday for fuck's sake, it's going to be busy! And it was, oh yes, Ms. Jones (one of the managers) had to ring. Lovely. And to top it off, my knee still hurts from whatever the fuck I did to it yesterday, and I was pretty much standing in one spot from one-thirty until six tonight. For half that time, I tried to keep all my weight on my left leg, but guess what? That started hurting too! At some point I was supposed to learn service desk, but I didn't get a chance to do that either because Ms. Jones didn't have my numbers in to do it at first, and then when she did get them in, Lisa apparently decided it wasn't important enough to get me back on service desk. Nice.

I hate when customers pick up their phone when they're checking out. I mean, it's okay if they pick up and just say "Hey, I'm at the register at Marshalls, I'll call you right back." That's fine. Picking it up and talking on it, and then mouthing what you want to say to me is not fine, especially since I have enough trouble understanding people as it is and can't fucking read lips. But none of that pisses me off as much as what one lady did today. Her phone rang just as I found someone to do a price check for her, and not only does she pick it up and keep talking on it, she WALKS OUT OF THE FUCKING STORE. Mid-transaction! Another customer in line! Okay, so I figure I'd wait just until Regina got back with the price check and if she wasn't back at the register by then, I was just going to cancel her transaction and take the other customer, then tell her off for bitching. Unfortunately, she came back just in time, so I just made certain to slam her things around a little bit, because if I didn't do that I was probably going to reach over the counter and take her phone out of her goddamn hand. I probably should've cancelled the transaction as soon as she walked out, but I was just so gobsmacked (for lack of a better word) that all I could do was stare after her like an idiot.

Near the end of the day, it looked like we were going to have a huge storm, so I had to force a customer to go to the service desk while I ran (yes, I actually ran) out to my car to make sure the windows were up because it was going to pour. Thank god I only had an hour left of work by then, because after running out there my knee was really fucking killing me.

The only good part of the day was going over to Eckerd to bother my brother during my lunch break, and discovering Jolt caffeine energy gum. Needless to say, I bought it. Apparently enough, chewing two pieces of said gum has the effect of drinking a cup of coffee. That and the Monster energy drink and Dr. Pepper I randomly decided to mix up were the only things that kept me going for the day. Unforunately, now I just want to go curl up in bed and pass the fuck out.

Whatever. I'm going to play with icons on thisisthesmile now.

grr, work
