I'll just list my thoughts on this movie...
1. Maria Bello is like all muscle. Not like body-builder muscle. But pretty much all muscle. Not fair. I wish I was all muscle like her.
2. When the son started kicking that guy's ass in school, I immediately yelled out "UHHH! IT'S GENETIC! The violence is genetic!"
3. I wasn't quite sure how this movie was going to end. I knew after Viggo killed his second round of bad guys that there was no possible way that he wasn't Joey Cusack. But I thought they would try to some big Hollywood-twist ending. And thinking about it now, I'm really glad they didn't. It was a natural ending. Like what would happen in real life if you were married to a man who used to kill a shitload of people from the mob.
4. I loved the scenes with William Hurt at the end. But my fellow viewing audience kind of ruined them for me. Parts of it were funny, like when he was fishing for his keys after he gets locked out of his own house. But the audience was laughing THE WHOLE TIME. Needless to say, I was irritated.
5. I thought the performances were strong from everyone. Viggo Mortensen, Maria Bello, Ed Harris, William Hurt, and even the kid who played their son. They could get nominated for Oscars, but I don't think anything about their performances was so over-the-top as to actually win an Oscar. Oh well, we'll see.
6. I was pretty squeemish with all the killing scenes. It wasn't a big deal, but Viggo's character kept killing everyone by hitting them repeatedly in the nose, and it got pretty graphic. And something I didn't notice until my sister told me, he didn't need a gun to kill people. He was THE violence.
7. Definitely worthy of being nominated for Best Picture. Should it win? No. But you should see it anyways. In general it's just comforting to know that they're still making movies with a little bit of intelligence. SUCK IT Into the Blue!
Squeee. I just figured out how to download more than one torrent at a time. Best day ever.
And I'm dragging
silver_t to see Serenity with me next weekend. And Katie will LOVE IT... or else our friendship is OVER!
